“Alright, you Spanish wimp…” Chad shouted, as he pushed the Hispanic boy with his back against the wall of the boy’s bathroom at the middle school. “If you laugh at me again, then I’ll make a burrito out of you! Got that??”
The Hispanic boy just looked at the large, 6 foot boy with anger. He wanted to say something, but he knew it was better to stay quiet. Chad somehow didn’t like Mexicans, and he used every opportunity he could get to torture any kid who even looked like he was Mexican.
Chad slowly turned around and walked away, much to the smaller boy’s relief. Then another skinny, Hispanic boy ran up to him.
“Caramba, Miguel! Will you be careful, hermano? You know that Chad hates it when you call him names! Callate, hombre!” Luis said to him in a stern tone of voice.
“All I did was call him ‘gordito’ and he got all upset! The big gorilla doesn’t even know what it means…” Miguel replied, clearly feeling very frustrated that he has been Chad’s target of harassment almost every day that week.
“Miguel, you have got to do something about him! Go talk to the counselor!” Luis advised his buddy, as the two walked back to class.
“No way, hombre! He’s nothing but a dumb elephant! I’m not going to a counselor! If he finds out, he’ll beat the crap out of me as soon as I walk out the schoolyard!” Miguel replied, clearly airing out his frustration.
Now Ty just happened to be walking right behind the Hispanic boys, and he couldn’t help overhear the conversation.
“But you can’t keep on being tortured by the big buffoon either! He’s making your life miserable!” Luis shouted back.
“Hey guys, what’s up?” Ty asked, as he walked closer to the two boys. Luis and Miguel then explained to him what was going on, and Miguel started to become very upset.
“Why is he bullying me all the time? I hate this! Nobody seems to care, either! Why don’t I just drop out of school?” Miguel shouted out of frustration.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa…” Ty replied calmly, “Let me see if I can take care of Chad for you, amigo…”
“Yeah, right!” Miguel replied, in a sarcastic tone of voice. “The guy is bigger, taller and stronger than you, Ty! Now he’s gonna beat up both of us!”
“I doubt it, Miguel. Tell you what; I will help you to have some fun with the bully! You will cut him down to size in no time!” Ty replied, with confidence and assurance.
“Me?” Miguel replied, while pointing his finger at his chest. “The oversized orangutan will kill me first! I’m not going to do anything to him!”
“Alright! Then I will do it for you, but he’ll still think it was you!” Ty replied with a grin.
“Que? What are you talking about, Ty?” Luis wondered.
Suddenly both Ty and Miguel closed their eyes for three seconds. When they both opened them at the same time, Ty started to look around and then he looked down at himself in confusion.
“Hey… I feel different! What is this? What did you do? OH MY GOD! I look like TY!” Ty suddenly shouted, while Miguel just stood there and grinned.
“Welcome to your first body swap, mi amigo! You’re in my body now, and I’m in yours!” Miguel responded, with a smile on his face. “Chad isn’t going to bother you while you’re in my body. Now then, I’m going to have some fun with our big buddy!”
“But… How...? What...? How did you do that? And how come you look like me?” Ty said, as he looked at Miguel and walked around him in a circle.
“I got the power to swap bodies and to change your body” Miguel replied, while Ty continued to look at him with complete amazement. “Stand back, amigo…” Miguel chuckled, as he slammed his right fist into the palm of his left hand, “I’m going to take care of our big friend…”
Ty and Luis quietly walked behind Miguel, who showed no fear of facing the bully at all.
“This whole experience is SO weird to me” Ty whispered to Luis, “I just wonder what he’s going to do to him!”
Ty and Luis continued to follow Miguel. The skinny, Hispanic boy cheerfully continued to whistle his way down the hall, as he slowly approached Chad and his friend Paul, who happened to be chatting in the hallway.
“My, oh my…” Miguel shouted at the crowded hallway, “If it isn’t Gordito and Panchito, standing in the hallway. I bet they must love you two guys at Taco Bell, huh? How about we split a dozen burritos and enchiladas as a snack, aye?”
“How DARE you make fun of me, you little Mexican mosquito… I’m going to send you on a one-way trip back to the border for that…” Chad growled, as he slowly approached the boy.
Miguel just stood there and grinned, as he made his wish. A surge of invisible power left Miguel’s body and struck Chad…
