Jack stood outside the large concrete building, staring at the sign above the door.
In big and colorful letters it read: "TransFun: General Store".
So this is what all the buzz around town is about...he thought to himself
Jackson D. Powell, called Jack by all his friends, was 16 years old. He had just saved up $40, and realizing that it was April 1st decided that the new "TransFun" store might be his best bet for a good prank. Jack stepped up to the entrance and opened the door, stepping in as it shut behind him.
The first thing Jack noticed was the rows and isles of potions, each marked under categories and then subcategories, spanning the length of the building. He couldn't help but be impressed by all the variety of vials and the way they were organized.
"Welcome to TransFun!" said an enthusiastic voice to his left. Jack turned to find a man in his early 30's behind a relatively normal looking cash register and booth. The man wore a white suit and dark pants, with a name-tag pinned to his chest; "Dave" it read.
"Um...Hi Dave, I'm kind of...new to this whole thing, could you maybe help me out?" Jack murmured, still a little unsure of where he was at.
"Of course, sir." Dave replied, "What do you need our product for?"
"Well," Jack said, "I'm planning to pull a prank on someone I know."
"And who would that be, may I ask?" prodded Dave, curiously
"Um...this is a little embarrassing but...my mom." Jack confided
Jack's mother, Sarah Powell, was a petite woman. She stood 5'6 compared to Jack's 6'0, and had long red hair and green eye's. She was 39 years old, and in all honesty looked a bit younger. Now, Jack did not have any quarrel with his mother. Far from it, as the two had become inseparable after the boy's father had left them. However, last year she had pulled an unforgettable prank on her son, and being a eccentric(but loving) mother she had made it quite over the top. Jack didn't feel like he wanted to remember the whole thing.
"Your MOTHER?" Dave laughed loudly and pounded the counter several times.
Jack's face reddened even further, "Well you see, last year she pulled this huge prank on me and..."
"Say no more my friend, I understand." Dave managed to get out between giggles. He then smiled broadly.
"Follow me." he said, calmly stepping out from behind the counter and beckoning Jack to come with.
"Now I want something harmless, but effective, and very dramatic if possible." Jack requested.
"Harmless, Effective, Drastic..." Dave whispered under his breathe as he led Jack through the maze of potions.
"Here!" he exclaimed stopping suddenly. "I think these are your best bet..." he gestured to a sub-category on the isle.
Jack took a few moments to read the label; "Were-creatures, and other similar beasts"
"By the way, a were-creature is basically an anthropomorphic variant of the creature in question."
Dave saw the hesitation in Jack's face. "Don't worry, she will still have complete control over her actions, and the potion only effects the body." Jack breathed a sigh of relief.
"Now," Dave stated, "Each of these would normally go for around $50 each, but today, their on sale for $35."
Jack quickly did the math and figured he'd have enough for one.
"Also," continued Dave "these ones that are on sale come with a free side effect; whoever drinks it will grow about 2-3 feet taller, on top of the normal effects. So if someone was 5'0, they would grow to somewhere between 7'0 and 8'0 tall."
After doing some thinking Jack spoke: "I think I'll take the..."
