"Maybe just one little thing!" Becky smirked before James could react. James looked on petrified as his ears started to itch, but didn't see any visible changes to his body. However, a second later, he caught a slight movement out of the corner of his eye. Horrified, James reached up, only to find two very large gray ears sprouting from the side of his head. Running to a mirror in the corner, James gaped.
"You gave me...elephant ears?!" James yelped, then stomped towards Becky. However, before he could say or do anything, he heard an extremely soft whisper.
"Hang on," Becky barely breathed a warning at him, as she grabbed an unwitting James and pulled him down atop her to make it look like he had pinned her to the ground.
"What did you do that for?!" James gasped before he could gather his thoughts. Giving James a sharp look, Becky turned her head to the side.
"Because you need to hear this," she said loudly. "I'm the one in charge now, so I'd start being respectful if I were you!" James stared at her wide-eyed as she turned back to him, but he didn't expect what happened next. In just as soft a voice as she'd used just before she grabbed him, and without moving her lips, Becky whispered, "Sorry, but isn't it pretty obvious why he's doing this? He wants one of us to start pushing the other around, so why don't we give him a show? In the meantime, we can work together to figure out a way to get out of here. But be careful what you say, he might be listening." Suddenly, James realized why Becky had given him elephant ears.
"I can't believe you're such a jerk!" James yelled, then mouthed, "What do I do?"
"Just try me, see what you'll end up as!" Becky retorted aloud, then whispered, "Think of things I can change you into so you can explore the place, find us a way out. I should warn you though, that crazy magician said he could take the magic away at any time if he wanted to end it, and he never promised to return us to human form if he let us go...so it's possible you could get stuck as something if we run away..."
James' shoulders sagged, but finally he got up off of Becky and stood up, backing away a bit. Becky rose to her feet as well, trying her best to look arrogant and condescending, but sending James questioning looks with her eyes.
"Fine, I'll go along with you, but don't think you'll get away with this!" James growled, but gave Becky a slight nod to show he agreed.
"Smart decision," Becky sneered, then waved her hand, and James felt his ears retract. Becky continued, "Just to show you I can be magnanimous as long as you behave, I'll let you choose the next thing you get turned into, how about that?" James started, realizing what Becky was getting at. James desperately racked his brains for some type of change that would help him to find a way out but hopefully wouldn't get him killed if he got stuck in that form.
