Mary finished reading the note and found out that it could be unfolded. The note continued:
Rules:
- You can drink any amount of the vial for partial transformations;
- You can mix the contents of two or more vials in the special mix vial;
- The effects of the changes last for 24h;
- Your mind you be still human, no matter the amount you drink from the vials;
- For behavioral changes, look into the behavior section.
Enjoy!
“What is that?” Jeff, Mary’s husband, asked.
“I found it by our door. Maybe some kind of prank.”
Jeff read the notes and looked at the small box.
“There is no way to know what this is unless we open it.” He said.
Mary touched the button and the box opened itself. Its inside was like a bookcase with broad sides, full of small vials, each one two inches high and a half in diameter. Mary saw just thirty vials, each one with a different colored liquid inside. All vials had labels with a bird name on it and a small drawing of that bird. On top of the shelves, there was a small label with ‘Birds’ written on it.
“Just as I thought!” Mary said. “It is just an elaborated prank from someone. There is no way this thing works.”
Jeff looked into the case and, out of curiosity, slide the ‘Birds’ tag to the side. To their complete surprise, the label slid to the right, being replaced by another ‘Birds’ tag.
“What’s the matter with that? It slides to the side and comes back from the other side?” Jeff was intrigued.
“Not only that! Didn’t it had a chicken vial in this position just a second ago?” Mary asked.
“No way!” Jeff was incredulous.
Then Jeff slid the tag again and soon it was replaced by another ‘Birds’ tag. This time Mary was looking at the vials and saw when their labels changed. Where it had a canary vial now stood an Eagle one.
“They change as you slid the tag!” Mary exclaimed. “Maybe this thing is really magical!”
“You know I don’t believe in such a thing as magic!” Jeff stated.
“Well, mister skeptical, how do you explain that the labels are changing when you slide the tag?” Mary asked.
As to emphasize her argument, she slid the tag several times. At each time she slid it, the labels on the vials changed. When she stopped, the label had ‘Cats’ written on it.
“Hey! When did this thing changed to ‘Cats’?” Mary asked when she read the tag.
“And now there are cat names on the vials!” Jeff said.
Mary picked up a “Siberian Tiger” vial and inspected it.
“It seems like an ordinary vial. I think if this thing is really for real.”
She popped the vial open and sniffed it.
“It does not have any smell.” She said. “Do you think that someone would go that far just to prank us?”
“I have no idea.” Jeff said. “Are you thinking about drinking that stuff?”
“I am tempted. I know you are into transformation stories.” Mary said.
“How do you know that? I keep it just for me, since I think it is a silly one.”
“Well, I know it because I found some links on the history of our browser. So I read some of the stories and found them quite appealing.”
“I see. I forget to erase the history just this time and you happen to find out my little secret.”
“And now we have a unique opportunity.”
