After their brief run-in with Virginia McCoy, Trevor and Melissa made their way to the Jenkins home. Despite the occurrences that have been going on as of late, they were still high school students, and they still had homework they had to take care of. Once inside, both of them emptied out their book bags and looked at the lengthy list of homework they had to take care of.
"Ugh," Melissa grunted as she put the pile of books on the kitchen table. "You'd think that since I've only been a student for a less than a week, they'd ease up on the amount of homework I needed to do.
"Yeah, well, who's bright idea was it to sign up for these classes?" Trevor replied, smirking at her.
"Yeah yeah, I probably should have signed up for something easier, like underwater basket weaving. Although, I hear there's a ton of homework in that class as well..."
Trevor smiled at her and said, "I'm sure there are easy classes that you can go to, but I'm just not sure which ones those are. So, where do you want to start?"
"Um," Melissa said as she pulled the first book off of the pile. That book was the science book from first period. "I guess we're doing science first." The two cracked open the text books and started on the questions prepared by the teacher. The two worked through each subject one by one until they were near the end. At that point, Melissa leaned back in the chair and said, "I need a break."
Trevor grinned and said, "All right, let's stop here for now."
Melissa smiled at Trevor and asked, "Great. Now, I want to ask you about something. What are we going to do for our date this weekend?"
"Ah," Trevor said as he closed his textbook. "Well, I mentioned this earlier, but I know this great spot up on a hill. It has a great view of the lake, and at this time of year, the leaves look really nice."
"Really? That sounds nice," Melissa replied smiling. "And when do you want to do this?"
Trevor thought for a moment and said, "The best time to do this is in the afternoon. The setting sun reflects nicely in the lake waters and it looks really nice with the leaves changing color. If there's one thing that I wanted to show you about Moon Lake, it's that. I also know that this place I have in mind is also kind of secluded. Not too many people know about it, and it's out of the way. So, I expect that we shouldn't have too many interruptions there."
Melissa looked at Trevor, smiled, and said, "I think I'd like that. So, I'll bring the food. Hamburgers ok?" Trevor looked at Melissa and frowned. "Steaks?" She asked with a bit of a grin. Trevor continued to frown at her. "Okay, okay, how about simple sandwiches and potato salad?" Trevor smiled as he nodded his head. "Sounds like a date then."
The two continued to work on their homework into the evening. With the last problem worked out, Melissa stretched and said, "Ugh, glad that's over. I swear, someone should speak to those teachers and have them assign less homework." She took a glance at the clock and noted the time. "My dad won't be home for some time. Want to watch a movie with me?"
Trevor smiled, "I don't see a reason why not. My folks won't be expecting me till a few hours from now. Whatcha got?"
Melissa went to the living room and examined their collection of movies before picking one out. She then got a blanket and settled next to Trevor before she turned on the TV and movie. She nestled into him and he wrapped his arms around her before she covered the two of them with the blanket. They shared a brief kiss and then turned to watch the movie together. It wasn't long, though, before the two of them nodded off. This would be the position that Harold would find them when he got home.
