Many centuries ago, in the times of Arthur, Morgana, Launcelot, Merlin, and the times, there were ery powerful artifacts these people used to channel magic. Rods, staves, wands and scrolls were the most common of these magical vassals; however, these were only the beginning. There were also weapons, armor, jewels, cups, gems, works of art, toys, dolls, many varieties of things that could be used to channel magic were used, for many reasons.
Some of these were used for ealing, some for violence, some for diabolical uses, and many others for a wide range of reasons, often very obscure. One such use, was a wishstone. At the end of the Terran calendar year 1,368 Anno-Domini (A.D.), it was thought that all such stones had been destroyed.
All were. Except four, that went to the Babylonian lands of South-Western Asia. These four were lost with time as well. Three of the four have been in fact recovered unwittingly by archaeologists, who have taken them to gemcrafters who sculpted them. One of them died trying in France in 1843. Two others were recovered within fifteen years of them, but they were non-magical by then.
Each of these four jewels were three inch diameter perfectly rounded stones, and each had a different hue. Red was destroyed, blue and green were duds, one at the smithsonian Institute in New York City, and the other, scattered amongst several hundred pieces of jewelry. The fourth, nothing is known about. The stones were never documented, and there is no way to know where it could have been.
Spring, 2004 on a family vacation in the Florida Keys, you walk long the beach and out into the wonderful waters of the Atlantic Ocean. About knee deep, you kick a group of rocks with your bare feet, and looking down when you move your feet, you see a dull grey reflection. It seems to have been buried beneath the rocks for some time there. It looks like a clay.
You reach down and fish for the stone, and pull it from the water a few moments later. It is a perfectly rounded grey stone. You walk back to the shore and examine it. It is a rock. But a perfectly cylindrical grey rock. That makes it neat, and you decide to keep it for just that reason. It'll be your momento, from your trip to the Keys, and your walk in the ocean.
As it is sun-dried in your hand, you are suddenly knocked backward onto your butt in the sand and you suddenly know the immense power of this thing! The last of its kind, you hold the world's final remaining WishStone, with an immense magic long lost to many centuries of refused knowledge. And it is all yous!!
It beckons you to use it to make the world anything you wish. Just try it and you'll see! It can make anything possible, as long as you want it enough. All you need to do is close your eyes, close your hand around it and visualize it. There are only two catches. It does NOT work on you, and it can only change things that already exist, it can not make things simply materialize.
And it can't wait to see just what you will do with it. It longs for your first experiment. It is linked to your mind, and it senses...
