"Please take a seat." The man grinned when he saw the faces of Max and Hanna. They were looking at two chairs right next to each other, in the middle of the room. "My name is Matt, I am the professor of this lab. I specialise in medical research, but there are some other things for other purposes I'd like to experiment on as well. Don't worry though, we don't specialise in harming people while experimenting on them, we do NOT intend to do that."
Hanna gulped, her chest was rising a little bit quicker. The man was not intending to harm her of course, but the way he explained it made her feel uneasy. Her first thought of him was that he was socially awkward, but Hanna tried to wave away all first impressions of people. Max was already walking towards the chair on the right side and made a gesture towards Hanna that she had to take a seat in the left chair.
As they were both seated in the chairs, the professor walked to a control panel and touched a couple of buttons. "Alright, so for a short explanation, the chairs are connected to an electrical circuit, which ends inside this control panel. I am going press a few buttons to see how you will react to it." He then looked down to the panel again and said, "I can give you a full explanation of what I'm going to do, but that'd first of all, take hours, and second of all, make no sense to you. This test will take about five minutes and after that you need to wait fifteen more minutes. If nothing happened then, you can head home with your profit, the experiment must've failed then."
Hanna looked at Max. She didn't really like the idea of lack of information. Max however wanted her to swallow her fear. "Hanna, seriously, don't worry about it. It's just twenty minutes waiting."
"Alright, let's start." Hanna looked up in fear, the professor already wanted to begin! "Three, two, one..." He pulled a lever and the three of them heard a zap. For what rested, nothing more happened. Matt looked up from his panel and saw that the two girls were seated as uneasy as before. He made a careful smile and continued. "Second try. Three, two, one..." Matt pulled the lever again, but it failed, a zap was heard, and that was it. Max started grinning inside her chair, thinking about having to do nothing for a thousand bucks. The professor looked up again, frustrated about how nothing happened and annoyed by the grinning of the girl in the right chair. "Alright, second to last try. Three, two, one...". He pulled the lever, a zap was sounded, and both girls shot up from their chairs, they felt like they had been shocked by the chairs...
