Animalia Magazine: The Luck o' the Irish

added by makutamon 6 years ago O

Animalia Magazine's third issue was called Luck o' the Irish, and featured Shamus and Shannon O'Farrel as the cover couple. It's primary article was Thawing Relationships, which talked about how to get into a better relationship with someone, as well as mistakes to avoid.

Another article was called The Origin of Luck, which talked about the origins of good and bad luck omens and charms. For example, it talked about how on Friday, October 13 1307, was when thousands of members of the Knights Templar were arrested, tortured, and executed because their immense wealth and power and secretive initiation rites threatened the rulers of Europe and the authority of the pope. So, because of those brutal executions, that was the origin of the superstition of Friday the 13th.

There was also a small contest to see who could submit the most "bad luck actions", such as opening an umbrella in the house or tossing a hat on the bed, with the grand prize being $500. There was also a prize of having their list in the next issue.

Another thing that the magazine talked about was the origin of St. Patrick's day icons, such as the four-leaf clover, the leprechaun, and the blue moon. There was also the information on folk rituals that could be considered witchcraft, such as good luck charms and herbal medicine.

Animalian Entrepreneurs talked about a female herbal remedy crafter became a black cat Animalian to dress up as a sexy, traditional "green witch" (something along the lines of a Celtic medicine woman) and gather attention to her new herbal remedies store. Some of what she was selling were genuine herbal medicine, while others (through secret family recipes) made the bedroom more interesting, but these were generally more expensive.

The Past, Present, and Future talked about how little was truly known about Druidic rituals. The Past talked about how there were only brief reports in Julius Caesar's battle reports, and many wild theories that originated in the Victorian era. There were a number of Irish recipes in The Present section, and The Future mentioned the opening of Animalia Reserve and Resort, and the activities planned there.
