Nate and Katie entered the tent to find several other kids of various ages already seated. On going inside, the noticed some golden cherubs holding a sign that said,
'You enter here of your own free will, your parents have left you here of their own free will. If you don't want to take part in THE WONDERS OF SORCERER SPECTRA, please leave now, if you're too scared that is.'
"Maybe we should just leave." Katie said.
"Naw! This is just kids stuff to scare away the cry babies, don't worry, you've got me." Nat said pulling his twin sister along to their seats.
A few more kids eventually entered, Katie noted how the small place was completely full now.
The bald man from before stepped on stage, now wearing a mask similar to the one on the outside of his tent with green spiral jewels, and dressed up as stereotypical wizard, a bathrobe with glittery stars and moons glued on it.
"Welcome one and all to THE WONDERS OF SORCERER SPECTRA! As you might have guessed, I am the Sorcerer Spectra! Thank you all for coming! You have my word of honor that you'll all be having a wonderful and happy time! My only hope is that you all come out the better for it!" He had a slew of props with him.
"'All and none of my tricks involve audience participation! And I sincerely hope you're each happy after experiencing one of my tricks." Spectra's tone was both friendly, hopeful, and maybe somehow apologetic for something.
"Now who wants to help with my first trick?"
Hands rose up, and the sorcerer pointed to a red haired girl in the front row.
"What is your name miss?"
"Rosie!"
"Well Rosie come on up!"
The girl did so.
"Now Rosie, what is it you like to do?"
"I like to dance."
"Well then, lucky for you, I think I can help you with that. Please face our audience Rosie, and remember to smile, and think how you like to dance."
Rosie faced the audience, and Spectra took out a puppeteer's cross, and the wires floated in the air, and quickly struck her from behind on her feet, hands, head and back. Rosie stood stuck still at attention, her skin turned grainy and orange, like painted wood. Her fingers developed ball joints as her feet and hands turned black, her black shirts and shirt she'd been wearing blossomed into a sparkling ballarina's outfit, as a wooden fox tail with a white tip popped form her ear, her hair became carved wood, along with the rest of her as her ears moved to the top of her head, becoming triangles, as her face pushed out into a muzzle, her feet now paws. A tiara appeared on the little fox kit puppet's head. The puppet then shrank to half the size it had been before.
Then the puppet opened her clanking mouth saying, "Hello! I'm Rosewood The Fox! Let me dance for you!" She spoke in a girl's voice even as Spectra mouthed along with her. The wizard twitched the cross, but Rosewood did pirouettes, leaps, and splits that none would think possible for a puppet, let alone without getting her strings crossed. Some kids thought it had to be a costume, if it wasn't so small, or maybe a remote controlled robot.
Finally with one final great leap, Rosewood finished her performance and bowed to the audience.
"That was very good Rosewood!" Praised the socerer.
"Thank you! It's what I live for!"
The puppet then spun off stage, sitting down limp in a chair, think happy thoughts and eager for her next performance.
The children all clapped at the show. Katie and Nate both thinking it was a shame there was room for one more on the audience, this was the kinda show everyone should see.
