You were heading to the library to investigate the old map you had found within the ruins of the corrupted shrine you had found. Vivid memories both good and bad as you remember the sensation of death closing in on you, the loud moans of the monsterous moans of the hive mind, remembering how it's mutated purple flesh convulsed unnaturally.
Thankfully you had been able to exterminate it using your fox fire and some barrels of oil which after a huge explosion led to you finding the treasure map to the so called "Soul Of Corruption" which while sounding like something you probably shouldn't mess with, the idea of finding it intrigued you in a way. Not to mention the cryptic message you found as well.
After a while and some directions from several of the staff you manage to enter the library which while large and vast with books covering nearly every topic imaginable was otherwise a normal library.
Gathering old books and maps you take the time to read as much as you can about this world.
The world you lived in was large and vast, having eight different continents and unique landmarks. The continent you inhabited was a large western landmass named Huthonia with the most major country being the Huthon Nation which was also the country you lived in. To the southwest in the Skeatan Isles which were a large collection of marshy islands was another country called Skeatan apparently inhabitted by the Skeatans, a race of insectiod with primitive weapons and tribal magic. You were intrigued by this race but decided to ignore them for now and after several more flips of an old leather book you read more about Huthon.
Huthon is a prosperous nation that is considered to be a global power which is rivaled only by the Crystalis Federation and the Bronze Republic. Huthon is a monarchy that researches both technological and magical sciences along with a boom slave trade that makes up most of the manual labor. Huthon is currently ruled by Royal King Largenshop the older brother of Lord Hugenstore, the same person Master Harauphar works for.
You processed all of this information, glad to finally be able to learn about the world you now lived in.
You gathered several maps and started working on finding a map similar to the map you had found before finally striking gold.
You had found a match. An old paper bound map depicting a landscape virtually identical to the one you had found. The lake with the island shaped like a holy cross along with the town which according to the map was called Contestprice. Despite all your research you find no information about the Corrupted Soul and Contestprixe but you were not deterred and after several more cross examinations and comparisons with other maps, you eventually manage to determine that Contestprice itself was about six days away from Castle Bettsworth.
You spend several minutes memorizing a route before placing all of the books and scrolls back into their place before exiting the library. You felt close now. You knew where to find the Corrupted Soul whatever it may be and despite you knowing nothing about it, you waited for your chance to go there yourself and solve this little mystery of yours.
