After nearly a day of darkness and immobilization, Chad's sanity teetered on the edge. Then he felt movement as the book was opened but not to his page.
This went on for several days with Chad immobilized in the darkness of a page in a book. This was interrupted occasionally by Milo opening the book, sometimes to Chad's page. Milo would open the book and lick Chad. Chad looked forward to being licked because it was the only light in Chad's dark world.
Then one day, Milo rubbed something on Chad. Chad felt the urge to breathe deep and keep taking deep breaths. He watched as his chest inflated. Then the rest of him inflated. Soon he was a normal, three-inch-tall pixie with dragonfly wings.
Chad asked, "Are you gonna make me human again?"
Milo said, "Let me explain the rules of magic. Magic does have rules. Fiction writers like to use magic in their stories because they think magic doesn't have rules. They think that a magician can do anything he wants just by snapping his fingers. In real life, magic is not that easy.
"You can't turn me back!?"
"I'll get to that. Stop interrupting. To do magic, you must have three things. First, you need mana. Mana is a magical energy that is found throughout the universe but is concentrated on planets with water. Second, you need to contain that mana because if you don't have enough mana, you can't do anything. Even a basic levitation spell uses a whole kilowatt of mana. Mana can be contained in a human but if a human contains too much mana, it will cause unhealthy side effects. This is why mana is typically stored in talismans, wands, or other objects. Unfortunately, almost all the mana on Earth has already been contained in random objects scattered around the Earth, buried and forgotten. It was lucky that I found this shoestring containing a limited but significant amount of mana."
Chad thought that he might try using magic against Milo but this was useful information. So Chad listened.
Milo continued, "I didn't know much about magic when I found this shoestring. It inspired me to do research. The research was difficult because most of the books about magic make it all up. But I'm a nerd so I persevered. The third thing you need is the correct incantation, ritual, or potion to direct that mana to do what you want. You can't just command the mana to make you a cheeseburger, if you mess up the incantation, you could wind up with a cow in your kitchen."
Chad asked, "Why did you change me into a pixie?"
"I want more mana but since I cannot contain too much mana and this shoestring has a limited supply, I need something else. My research led me to think my best option was to capture a pixie but that is nearly impossible. If pixies still exist they are either rare or very good at hiding. So I decided to create my own pixie. Pixies are able to create mana. They do so automatically. You, my friend, are not a limited supply of mana. But if you are thinking of using magic against me, you can't. First, you don't know any spells. Second, even if you learn some spells, I've already cast a spell to bind all your mana for my use only. That is why I licked you."
"Why me?"
"The fitter the human, the more mana produced. So who better than the star athlete?"
Chad looked at the pictures of him on the other page. "Are you gay?"
"I wish we could get rid of the labels. On the Kinsey scale, most people fall somewhere between gay and straight. There are few people that are absolutely one or the other. Let's just say I'm gay curious. That's not an accurate label but it's better than the other labels. One thing I am not though is sex crazed."
Milo picked Chad up. Chad's resistance was inneffective.
Milo said, "I'm sorry I had to capture you, you won't be human, and I will continue to lick you or fondle you. I hope you learn to enjoy it since there is no escape. If you fly away, I will turn you invisible like a ghost, unable to do anything. If you betray me I will punish you."
"People will come looking for me."
"They have already been looking for me. The police even investigated me as a suspect in your disappearance. I cast a spell to lead them off my trail. Now one pixie is great but why stop at one? Let me introduce you to your new brothers."
Milo turned the page of the book and Chad saw a flattened pixie that looked like _____.
