Squawk

added by Drakkenfyre 19 years ago A TG

Dave and Amy were lying side by side on the Floridan beach enjoying their spring break, when a shadow passed over them. Dave sat up suddenly as little quills poked out of his skin. He turned to Amy and he squawked.

Amy squawked back and pluck a white feather from her chin. He struggled to his feet. His fingers started to grow long and fuse together. He hopped up and down as the quills unfolded into feathers. The hair from his body and head molted onto his white beach towel.

Amy shook her head violently in disgust at being unable to speak. Her hair flew off like a bird's nest caught in a strong wind. Dave opened his mouth and his teeth fell out. His gums hardened and retracted as his mouth and nose merged and thrust outward to form a seagull's yellow and black bill. Grey and white plumage covered his body as his chest reshaped he slumped forward. His arms and hands became wings. He was turning into a giant seagull, so was Amy.

David's swim trunks were pushed down as a tail sprouted from his spine. His trunks dropped to his hardening rough skinned ankles, as his toes fused and splayed into a webbed bird's claw. He tried to cover what should have been his exposed manhood, but all he could do was flap his wings and squawk at the smooth patch of feathers where his genitals had once been. He squawked angrily, as he kicked at his swim trunks, and his former pubic hair blew away in the ocean breeze.

He ran along the beach in panic flapping his huge wings. Only as he became airborn, did he realize that he was now an albatross. His giant wings beat the air. Moments later Amy was in the air with him. David had a sinking feeling as he suddenly knew that there had been more than a change in species. Professor Kerwood's lecture haunted his memory, "Unlike humans and mammals, birds have a reversed gender coding. Homozygous sex chromosomes in humans described as XX designate the female. To distinguish the different gender we refer to those chromosomes in bird as WW, because they designate the male. Of course, the XY male in humans, would be a WZ female if he were a bird." The professor had laughed at his little joke.

Amy flew behind and on top of David. People further up the beach marveled to watch mating albatrosses. Back down the beach a menagerie of wild animals roamed, howled, growled, brayed and barked at their unexpected transformations.
