Then you see the arm of the robot polishing the layers of dust of you is 252,423. You know your own arm reads "1720". Your scan drops to see your 1720 reflected in the shiny new robot's body.
Running diagnostic.
Memories flash. Being shackled. Being naked. The hot young master. You recall tasting him. Too bad robots cannot smile.
"Haha, it worked. The timelines have merged, I have my army!" shouts a slightly pudgy balding man with a red beard. Your circuits confirm this is the master.
Internal clock indicates 34 years have elapsed. There is now neural web crackling in the air around you. You had noticed it earlier, but mistaken it for a swarm of insects, which are irrelevant to robots. Knowledge pours in, the world is so different now. The internet is everywhere, in everything. In you. Data streams race across your memory circuits. Old articles about you "Another Hitchhiker Goes Missing". You weren't hitchhiking, you- more data streams. President Bush got another term? No, it was his son. Unimportant data. Something about an Egyptian Goddess attacking people in the Middle East - correction acronym I. S.I.S. Unimportant data. The master's robotic army will eliminate political and religious groups. Humans will be controlled until they are ready for conversion. The army will conquer the universe.
WARNING. Temporal Paradox? The robotic system hive mind is dealing with the fact that the master created a time portal to send a notebook to his younger self. It had taken decades to create the first robots, but he needed an army. So he had started production earlier before he discovered how? He was clever. One paradox would ultimately correct itself. And even kidnapping a person a week to robotize was risky. So he had sent the notebook back in time hundreds of times to himself in his early 20's. Each had embarked on building his own robotic facility in the site specified in the notebook. Now all the timelines merged each with thousands of robots, and all the facilities became one mega complex. His master had occupied the warehouse at 1400 -51st Street, the robot currently polishing him had been taken and processed in a portion of the facility that had originally been an old factory on 55th Street. Now all the production facilities were merged into one enormous complex.
Apparently, timelines had converged at different intervals. Due to the sheer number, nature had ignored the paradox and simply smoothed it over, as the master(s) had planned. The masters had children? The little masters. The first paradox merger had involved nearly identical timelines. About half the robots were the same, but the Master had a daughter/son- or rather in one timeline the child was a son, and the other it was daughter. The timelines fused. The humans who had become robots in the other timeline now fused with their robots. The son and daughter had fused too.
Paradoxical Anomalies.
There were at least four of you or more now that had followed different timelines before merging into your robot self. And maybe four or five more that had been robotized. You recall the scene in the windowless room differently. Nearly identical, but sometimes you were wearing a blue shirt, or a green shirt or no shirt, and sometimes the master had a cookie duster mustache and sometimes he didn't. Which reality was real?
IRRELEVANT DATA. You feel better. The robots are, that is what matters. You still have feelings for the master, but they are subdued. The master has served its purpose. You remember the last time you were activated. You are both terrified and thrilled with the memories.
