You see no way out and a very warm comfortable bed. You tell yourself that you just need a quick nap, just to get your bearings together. That decided you leap up onto the bed and curl yourself up into a ball to close your eyes. It isn't long at all before your sleeping comfortably. You're awakened by the sound of the door opening as a strange human enters. As she walks in you're immediately up and bolt under the bed for safety. You look at her nervously as she pokes her head down to look at you.
She says something inconsequential and laughs a bit, but she doesn't reach for you, which keeps you from getting much more nervous. After a time she leaves and comes back with something that smells heavenly. It's definitely food. You take a few tentative steps towards the edge of the bed and poke your head out to see that she's backed away from a bowl with a fishy spell coming from it. You cautiously approach the food and begin eating. Once you're well into eating she runs her hand over your head, which you allow.
It takes some time, but sooner or later you decide that she's not a threat and signify your trust in her by rubbing your face along her hand when she provides it for you to sniff. While you're far too independent to regard her as a mistress, you do make use of her offers of a warm lap and some affection, and of course more food. In exchange you deem to perform certain tasks she asks of you, in addition to your scouting the house to keep it clear of small rodents.
On one occasion you come to understand that she wants you to go and great a strange human that's arrived in the house. Once you're sure he's noticed you you head upstairs, going back occasionally to ensure that he's following you. You walk up to a hall with similar doors, and stroll over to the one that has a sign printed on it. The human notices your arrival at the door and say something inconsequential before opening the door. The flash of light that follows startles you and you're off in a shot to the other end of the hall. By the time you return the sign is on a different door and there's no sign of the strange human. Your human, however is there. You approach and rub your body in circles around her legs. She picks you and you find a relaxing position in her arms.
"Good kitty." she says. You always regard these kinds of praises as at least partially consequential.
