Like the soon to be outgoing President, Rodham relished the brief, fleeting moments of joy that came from being a high level politician in the world's only superpower. Long ago, she had learned to organize her feelings in a way where she could relish the little moments of life- a stray smile, or comment, or joke- anything human- while in the middle of high stress diplomacy. Balancing business with pleasure, because her life was 95% business. Most of her day was dealt negotiating with total assholes, or worse, but assholes could occasionally be funny or insightful. It was hard work, and it had taken a toll on her once good looks. Once upon a time, one of the googelplex of criticisms lodged against her by right wing radio was- Do you really want to see an old woman weather way while in office, getting visibly older and more decrepit every day? It was all misogynist horseshit, since every President ages a hundred years while in office, but either way, that didn't matter anymore. The Great Change had offered youth to all born women, and Rodham, like the vast majority of born women, had seized the opportunity. She smiled in the bathroom mirror at the woman she now was, and had been decades ago. She almost said girl, because for an incoming president, she didn't look any older than twenty.
Still, some things never changed. Half of Congress, including the Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader, were still making promises to the American public to obstruct every single bill that she wanted to go into law, and of course were still spreading nonstop lies that the election was rigged, that The Great Change was somehow a conspiracy to stop Drumf from winning, yadda yadda yadda. The current scandal dominating the news cycles thought meant nothing, because it was nothing. Other issues however, social issues, issues of inequality, deeply bothered her. For example, it was almost beyond belief that in a world full of women that abortion rights were still a hotly contentious subject, but they were. Rodham found it amusing that the Speaker was slut shaming women for wanting control over their bodies while wearing form fitting outfits that showed off every curve of her spectacular new body. Than again, the law didn't always apply to the rich and powerful.
Rodham composed herself, put on her best smile, and stepped out of the bathroom to host the New Years Eve party with her wife, who went by Mia now, as well as her children, grandchildren and many, many donors. It was sure to be the most memorable one in a long time.
