Colin's eyes went wide as a loud 'SSSSSSSHHHHHHHKKK' filled the air along with a hiss.
There it was: a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, half the length of his leg and coiled back. Then, within a heartbeat, it's sizeable fangs dig into his thigh.
Officer Hemendez awakes to an agonized scream from the chunky gamer. She saw the snake and grabbed it behind the head before jamming a pistol in it's mouth and shooting. She turned and saw Colin holding his bleeding leg and crying out in pain.
"Did it bite you?!" the officer yelled.
"Yes... it... diiid...." Colin said as he fell over in pain, the venom going through his veins.
"H-help me... I n-need anti-venom." Colin groaned.
"That's all the way back in town! We'll never make it!" the officer yelled.
"Please, don't just let me lay here and die!" Colin cried out.
"I'm sorry." the officer said as she sped off on the bike.
Colin looked up at the glaring sun.
"W-well, it was a g-good run while it l-lasted...." Colin moaned in pain.
He could blurrily make out buzzards overhead; he was about to die and he couldn't even do anything about it.
Colin saw his whole life flashing before his eyes.... his mom hugging him... his dad on their fishing trip... his younger sister at her ballet recital... his younger sister being born.
"I... failed... you... allllll......" Colin said as a shadow overtook his vision. With a final breath, the venom took his life...
