Terry and Jerry drove as fast as they could, they had no idea what was going to happen, what their fates would be, but whatever it was, both had consciously decided that it was going to be better than being 'made an example' by the mob for money they never owed in the firs place!
The black sedan zoomed close behind, the two hit men in the car driving close behind. These two professional killers also knew the price for failure. Someone had to pay for the debts owed the family, and if they couldn't find the real mark, then someone had to pay in their place, the boss wanted SOMEONE to suffer for it, and it wasn't going to be the two of them. If it had to be the two faceless nobodies in the car ahead of them, then so be it.
So race the two cars did. They didn't notice how the route through the small patch of forest was taking much MUCH longer than it ever logically should have at half the speed they were going. They didn't notice how the twists and turns simply stopped. If they'd had time to think about it, it would be like they were on a road with no beginning or end. But neither really cared about that at all.
So faster and faster they went, faster than the cars should have been able to go, but again, none of the four actually noticed.
If anything, they noticed EVEN LESS as their clothes started to dissolve off them, replaced by fur.
Teeth became fangs, faces pulled into muzzles with black noses, ears became pointed at the top of their heads. Their feet became digigrated paws. Furry tails formed behind their rears out of their tail bones fittingly enough. Their hands stayed human just enough to have opposable thumbs against their padded palms.
But they did not become the same creatures.
Terry and Jerry's muzzles were narrow and pointed, with a small nose pad. Their pursuers' muzzles were broad and block, with large nose pads.
Terry and Jerry's ears were more tall and pointed than the hitmen's. They were also shorter on average, and while both were now in good shape, they were not as muscular (even more so than before) than the hitmen.
Terry and Jerry's coats were reddish brown with a whitish throat and belly. Their hunters were grizzled gray and black.
But the changes were not quite done. Jerry began to get shorter, more limber, and the space between his legs changed shape, while his, now her chest expanded out to two large furry breasts. Without even thinking about it, Terry and Jerry were now holding hands as they drove.
While they didn't hold hands, one of the Hitmen underwent a similar change, but resisted the urge to lean against her partner on what was professional business.
That was when both cars broke down and slowed to a craw at the same instant. The Hit wolves reached for their guns, only for them to dissolve and the wolves to forget they ever even had them.
The coyote couple hurried got out of their cars and began to run into the wolves on two legs. The hit wolves quickly abandoned their own car and raced after them. Neither noticed the cars dissolving quickly behind them, and both pairs quickly forgotten they ever existed. The pairs raced through the trees and over a hill, and if they'd gone back over the hill, they'd have found more endless forest instead of the road they'd left.
