One wish. I could wish for anything I wanted. It was so hard to decide. I can be greedy after all. But what if I wished for the same magic powers as the fairy had? Then I could get as many wishes as I wanted, right? I smiled at my cleaver plan and said,
“I wish I had fairy powers.” The autumn colored fairy I'd caught in the jar looked surprised for a moment, then smiled mischievously. That should have been a red flag for me, but I didn't catch on in time.
“Your wish is my command,” the fairy boy said with a triumphant air, taking another mocking bow. Red sparks of magic flitted from his hands and surrounded me. This was it! I was going to gain magic powers. But no. I was shrinking. I saw the floor rising as I got shorter. My clothes grew loose around my body. Too big for me. It happened so rapidly.
“What's happening!?” I could feel something growing on my back. Iridescent fairy wings erupted like fireworks from my shoulder blades. Not dark red like the fairy boy had, but light blue. Cyan with hints of azure and faint lines of cobalt. The same hues as my sapphire eyes. I wasn't gaining fairy magic! I was turning into a fairy!
“Be careful what you wish for,” the red fairy boy on my desk laughed. “You should have been more specific.” I saw, as I shrunk, that he was growing. He burst out of the jar and kept growing. His wings founded and vanished as he grew to be my size and I became his size.
We were both naked now. My clothes lay collapsed in a pile around me while the rosewood haired naked boy sat smiling malevolently on my desk. Ruby eyes gleaming with wicked intent. What had happened!?
“This wasn't what I wished for!” I demanded, trying and failing to find a hint of any magic abilities I should have received. Instead, it was the now human sized boy that sparkled with magic in his fingers.
“Thank you. I couldn't have done this without your gullibility. My magic is way stronger when granting a wish, but I get to interpret the meaning of that wish. So I gave you the powers of a fairy. The physical powers, that is. I didn't give you any magic what so ever. And even if I did, you wouldn't be powerful enough to counteract this wish. A fairy cannot contradict a wish after it's been granted.” I stared up at the naked boy as the realization hit me. This was permanent! Or at least, I wasn't going to be able to return to my old body.
“But why did you grow big!? That wasn't part of my wish.”
“Magic is a funny thing,” the boy explained, reaching down and grabbing me by my new wings before I could scramble out of the pile of clothes. He held me up in front of his face. “The bio-mass had to go somewhere. So I decided to put it to good use. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, after all. And now, you're at my mercy. But first, how about some introductions. You may call me Red. I shall call you Blue.”
“My name is Morgan!”
“It was, but now that you're mine, I'll rename you Blue. More fitting for a fairy.” He turned me to face the mirror on the wall. I was tiny in his grip. Even my hair had turned almost turquoise to match the rest of my transformation. I really had become a blue fairy.
