The Mother's Day Weekend was a series of firsts in many ways. It not only celebrated motherhood, but was also a way to see new products for infant Animalians.
The Mother's Day buffet was a great way for current and expecting mothers to socialize with each other, but some, such as Julia, had to leave for the hospital because labor had begun. There was a lot of food that was high in nutrients, both for the mother and the child.
There was also Mother's Day arts and crafts for children of all ages to make art for their mothers. Some did art of their future baby siblings, while others created tribute art for their mothers and grandmothers.
One of the surprising things that happened was the appearance of Janice Cumbertin's mother, Anne, as part of The Animalia Reinvention Program (ARP). From what she told Janice, Anne was granted American citizenship and membership in Animalia by a mysterious sponsor, as well as a chance to reinvent herself away from the abuses she suffered. She had chosen a skunk as well to better fit in with Janice's new family.

It was also a good time to do a brief tour of the Maternity Ward at Horizon Light Hospital. There were not only incubators for reptilian Animalians and special ponds for the amphibian Animalians, but also aquatic immersion rooms for aquatic Animalians that give live birth underwater.
What was surprising for many mother Animalians was that baby weight after giving birth was actually somewhat less than they were expecting, probably because of, not only the quicker or slower development of the unborn children, but also the effort of hauling them around before they were born. Fortunately the post-birth weight loss classes were there to get the weight that was actually there off. Labor was also somewhat less painful and more bearable for mother Animalians, especially those who had children before they were converted.
There also was a chance to watch reptilian Animalian egg hatching, especially Marlysa's eggs. It was a great way to take notes on how baby Reptilian Animalians would hatch, and be ready for snake Animalian egg hatchings. This information would also be sent to Mieni Atoll to help them prepare.
All together, Mother's Day in Animalia was a great way to celebrate motherhood, even if some mother Animalians got new children on that day.
