Damon and Monica walked down the sidewalk on the cool, summer evening as they made their way towards the movie theater downtown. They decided to walk as it was a nice evening, with the full moon shining down on them. Monica looked down at her watch.
"We better hurry, the movie's gonna start soon," said Monica.
"We can cut through the park, come on," replied Damon, gesturing to the park. As they walked though, they couldn't help but laugh and playfully tease one another. Damon and Monica had been going out with one another for awhile and Damon was getting ready to admit he loved her, but kept it to himself for the moment because he feared coming on too strong and scaring her off. The continued to make their way across the park when they heard a low, growling noise breaking the silence of the night.
"Honey, I don't suppose that was your stomach, was it?" asked Monica.
"No..." whispered Damon in response, trying to scan the dark park for the source of the noise.
"We should probably get..." started Monica as she was tackled by a large hairy beast and they both toppled to the ground. She screamed in terror as the beast bit into her shoulder and dragged it's claws through her skin. Damon reached down and pulled the beast off of Monica as the two tumbled to the ground. The beast spun around and focused it's attention on Damon, sinking it's fangs into his shoulder and shaking it's head back and forth. Damon cried out in pain when he heard a sickening crack and the monster went limp. He looked up and saw Monica standing over them, a large landscaping brick held over her head. She tossed it aside and helped Damon up. They both looked down at the creature, who had human proportions but also lupine. Neither wanted to admit it, but it looked an awful lot like a werewolf. They both jumped back as the werewolf suddenly came to, stood up and then turned and ran back into the night.
"I don't think we're going to make that movie," muttered Damon.
"Yeah, no shit honey." Monica pulled out her cellphone and dialed 911 "Hello, 911? Yeah, my boyfriend and I need an ambulance. We were attacked by some animal in Howard Park. Yeah, we're still there. Thanks."
Damon put his arm around Monica and pulled her close. "I love you, babe."
"I know." replied Monica, who then turned her attention back to the 911 dispatcher. Damon could hear the sirens in the distance. He had a feeling it was going to be a long night in the hospital.
