Mad Science

More things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophies

added by Drakkenfyre 19 years ago A

The alarm went off as usual for Allen Jones at 6:30 am, but this morning his hand over shot the alarm snooze button, and the weight of his forearm came down smashing his clock radio to bits.  This unexpected event caused him to jump out of bed wide awake.  He stared at the debris of plastic and wires where his clock-radio had once been.

"Gosh, I guess I don't know my own strength. Those hours at the gym are finally paying off," he said stretching, Allen yawned noisily, "Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrha!"

He glanced over at the bed, his wife Elaine was gone for the week at a seminar. He scratched himself.  He sure was itchy this morning.  He lumbered off toward the bathroom.  He wondered if little Jeffy was up yet.  That two year old sure was fun, and Allen was proud to be his father.  That thought made him think of his own father and little Jeffy's name sake, he'd have to try calling him this weekend.

For some reason, Allen didn't enjoy his morning shower.  He hosed off quickly, and shook himself dry before toweling off.  He put on a pair of old boxers, and pulled out an Oxford button down shirt from the closet.  He put the shirt on and was startled to find out that the Dry Cleaners had shrunk it. His wrists shot out a good six inches, and the two halves had a good ten inch gap in closing across his massive chest.

Hm?  His chest wasn't this big before, was it? His hand absently swung to his side and began scratching the back of his knee.  He blinked. Had his arms grown overnight?

"Oook!" came little Jeffy's voice over the baby monitor.

"Professor Beaker, you'll never guess what that physics grad student you hired has to say about the stabilizing isotope in your serum!"

"What's that?" Beaker said looking up at from his research to face his assistant.

"The isotope that the university sent you appears to radiate tachyons, and stabilizes the gene manipulation by actually reaching back in time to reconfigure the subjects dna to its new conformation.  Here's his report," she says handing you a sheaf of bluish white papers.

"Back in time?  How far?  Let me see that!" Beaker said angrily as he grabbed the papers and began to earnestly study them.  Urgently, he sought out whether or not these tachyons might effect Jeff Jones' offspring.  He had witnessed the physical changes himself, if those had occurred back in time, it would have been a silverback and not a man that had applied to work for him. Still, relativity had always been his weak subject, and he wondered how aptly that physics field might be named when it came to Jeff Jones' immediate relatives.
