Rick was angry at his son for causing the chemicals to bond together, he knew his son was a disappointment he was failing at school and had been to jail three times already. This had to stop rick knew it. The fumes from the room were making rick cough a lot, in a fit to escape he opened the door and closed it not letting anymore fumes escaping. Not knowing what has entered his system he walks to Brendon's bedroom to tell him off.
Rick walks upstairs and suddenly feels woozy, he feels the stairs being higher up and them being harder to climb then before. Rick shakes his head trying to head trying to get rid of the delirium. It must have been the chemicals it must have caused some minor infection.
Meanwhile upstairs Brendon is enjoying a bit of music. Just like the feeling of swimming he feels this drowns out the rest of the worlds problems from him. No school, no dad nagging him and no relationship problems. Brendon knew his dad must be busy because he wasn't upstairs yelling at him about his music. You see his dad rick is a scientist who works with plants and bacteria to find catalysts and enzymes to help the human race. He sounds like a nice guy doesn't he but to Brendon he isn't. He spends most of his time in the lab and no time with his twelve year old son.
On the other side of the spectrum, it isn't any different at school, he only has one friend called jack who was as unpopular as him. His relationship with carley has been destroyed because of his dad and quarantine and the people at school are cruel and disrespectful to him. Being the bottom of the school can do that to someone. So by drowning himself out with this music he feels at peace with everything. No voices shouting at him just this music.
Suddenly the door is shot open, it swings around and crashes into the wall. This startles Brendon and he falls of his chair. He can hear shouting but because of the music it is hardly audible. Then the music silences and he is lifted of the floor.
"Brendon are you not listening to me!!!" Rick shouts, Brendon is terrified and tries to break free from his bond. "Get of me you crazy fuck" Brendon says as his dad lets him go. Brendon walks backwards towards the window of his room staring at his dad now in fear. He sees that the veins on his dads face have spurted out as well as his hair is all wavy and curly. He looks like he is furious at him and for what for him listening to music.
"You need to chill out bro" says Brendon in a fit to calm down his dad. He suddenly sees that he is wearing his work clothes. The bleached shirt with three buttons missing and torched trousers with places scorched and dirty. "You know what I told you about listening to music during work" rick said directly to Brendon. Brendon understands that what he did was wrong but why was rick so angry with him.
"Do you not understand how dangerous-" ricks words are broke off when he clutches his chest. He staggers in front of Brendon and then falls to the ground in agony. Brendon backs off and scared he runs to his dad to try to help him. Rick pushes him back in the fit he is in and Brendon falls back into a cabinet. The cabinet falls down and him and some books fall on his head. Brendon falls in and out of consciousness as his dad screams out in agony. Brendon falls to sleep.
