"Wait, what?" Todd nearly jumped out of his skin at what he was hearing. "Are you crazy?! What if it... I don't know, messes with my brain or something?"
"Hey! You were the one who asked me to pick," Kaly pouted as she crossed her arms, "Can't you just make sure that won't happen?"
"I... don't know, actually." Todd blinked in surprise. In fact, he had no idea what the limit of the ring's power was. Upon this thought growing, the ring itself decided to answer. In a way at least.
<Master, if you wish to change yourself, then by all means. You 'should' remember your past self perfectly fine... assuming your new memories don't over-ride the old ones. Ah, but what are the chances of that, I wonder? But regardless, I shall be at your disposal even after for long as you wear me. And- might I add- can remind you of your past if the worst does come to pass.>
Honestly, Todd didn't like that sound of that. Not even the ring knew if he would still be him afterwards? Not really the answer he was hoping for, but at least the ring seemed to be willing to work as a memory backup if something DID happen later down the road. Still, this didn't bode well with him. Taking a deep sigh, he shook his head.
"Sorry Kaly. I'm not sure I can risk that. I mean, what if it makes me into some jerk or something? Screwing around with reality could have some serious repercussions."
"You're just no fun!" Kaly stuck her tongue out at him, "Come oooooon! What if- Oh!" She snapped her fingers before diving into her purse. After a moment of searching, she pulled a small note pad and began writing.
'Todd Evers is my boyfriend. He is a human and a nice guy. He has a magical ring.'
Holding this up, Kaly smiled, "See? Now there's nothing to worry about since I can just remind you of it for sure! Especially since you're right in front of me."
<How cute, she really does believe that'll work.> The sarcastic tone of the ring in Todd's head didn't help. He was so curious to try the ring out and would have agreed if not for the chance of things going horribly wrong. But he didn't want to disappoint his girlfriend either.
