Nate had been looking for Xander until he had to go to work. One moment he was with him and Jamie and the next he was gone. He figured he would turn up eventually, having voiced a desire to see Jamie and him in the talent show. He had to give up and head to work at the nearby Starbucks. He walked into work and clocked in before taking his place behind the coffee machine, ready to start making drinks for the largely student based crowd.
Shortly after, Zach walks into the Starbucks and walks up to the counter. Nate walked over to the register to take his order since his co-worker was in the back talking to the manager. Otherwise, the store was empty.
"Hi, can I take your order please?"
"Yeah." A smile came across Zach's face. "I'll have an In Canis Corpore Transmuto."
Nate's heart dropped as Zach began to chuckle. He saw, he saw everything, Nate thought as his first instinct was to panic. Then he realized he wasn't changing. It only worked when Jamie said the words. He smiled back to Zach.
"Well, you must've thought you had something on me there," replied Nate.
"Yeah, well I still saw it and I will tell everyone." replied Zach, looking very unhappy. He reached into cargo pants pocket and pulled out the Thermos. "And they'll believe me because I got your wish granting genie right here."
Just then, Nate's co-worker Mike came out of the back. Nate breathed a sigh of relief.
"Mike, take over for me for a moment, I need to deal with my "friend" here. He's having a psychotic episode." Nate walked around the counter and grabbed Zach, pushing him to the back of the store and into the Men's restroom. He flicked on the light and turned to Zach. "What the hell do you mean you have my Genie there? That's thermos!"
"He's in the thermos, moron."
"Open it up, prove it to me." replied Nate.
"Alright, fine, I will," Zach smiled as he unscrewed the top of the thermos. Sure enough, Xander emerged, looking quite cold.
"Oh man, was it chilly in there," remarked Xander, reforming into his human sized shape. He looked around at the bathroom surroundings and saw Nate. "Nate, my buddy! You rescued me!"
"Not quite, fuzzball. I was the one that released you," said Zach. Xander turned and noticed the other guy in the room for the first time. "And since I was the one that released you, you owe me a wish."
Nate and Xander stared at Zach, worried at what was to come next.
