First Real Signs and Other Changes

added by Adalyn 6 years ago A

"Wednesday, June 8th, 2017
Dear Diary,

I realize it's been a long while since I got back to you, but I have had a lot going on. I'll talk about that later, when I've calmed down a little more from all that has happened.

Firstly, I need to tell you my first real signs of the Change started only two days after last Monday, when I spoke to you last. It's starting with my feet and my ears. According to the charts that Dr. Howell gave us, Mom thinks it's going to be one of those changes that go from the top and bottom to the middle, where the tail comes last. Dad says that it might also indicate that I'm going to be a fictionkin-style "neko," meaning the change might not go very far or even lead to me having a tail.

Oh, how they argued! Mom kept saying, the extent of how much my feet changed says I'm going to be barely ambulatory on two feet, whereas Dad had his phone out showing pictures of models with feet more shifted than mine. I just walked out of the room. I'll know I'm ready for babies when I can discipline my own parents to act like adults.

Anyway, a lot has happened since then, and I can't talk about the truly exciting part just yet. Until I am ready, I remain

Your loyal confidant and friend,
Rebecca"

You stretch out your feet, and you look at them pensively. They have become partly digitigrade, being more slender and structured in a way that shifts your balance toward the balls of your feet. Fur has started to grow on the tops of them, recently having become a plush carpet that covers up the tips of your toes and makes them look almost like one broad, handsome digit, concealing the curved-back, "sheathed" claws at the tips of your toes.

Somehow, a change somewhere deeper inside has left you with an anxious sense of needing to feel that bounciness of walking on the balls of your feet, like if you rest on your heels, you feel unready. You feel too slack, like you might not be prepared to jump away in time if something happened. Like any digitigrade walker, your senses are more acute, and your perception is more sensitive, not tuning anything out, and somehow keeping tension in one part of your body keeps you from feeling so much tension deep inside. In this respect, your mind has become more like that of a cat.

Since your last week, you have been wearing a little bit less clothes in your bedroom, and you're just in your silvery gray panties and a loose t-shirt, having left your little girl pajamas in the chester drawers where they go. You don't care what anybody would think of you if they saw you. After all...
