Mary placed the 'Growth' vial back into the box and watched it refill. The fairy sighed sadly as Mary brought out the vial and poured it into the bowl again.
"This will take forever for me to reach a regular size," said the fairy.
"What do you mean? What do you consider 'regular size'? asked Mary.
"I don't know. I guess the regular size of a human. How tall are you?" asked the fairy.
"Well, I'm about 5 feet tall. But I don't know if you can consider me 'regular' sized. I always felt a little short. That was why I wanted to try the 'Growth' vial myself," said Mary.
"I wish I was 5 feet tall. Then I wouldn't have to hide from humans. I could interact with them without worrying about getting caught and kept as a pet," said the fairy wistfully.
Mary eyed the fairy's large beautiful wings - thin, delicate and luminescent like butterfly wings. The fairy followed her gaze.
"Oh, those are easy to hide with the right clothes. I doubt many humans would even care if they saw them - I could always just tell them it was a costume or something. But I don't think it will be a problem, anyway. It's not like that is going to happen any time soon, " said the fairy sadly.
Mary suddenly got an idea.
"Maybe not. Give me a second before you try the next dose, " said Mary.
Mary returned the vial to the box and watched it fill up. She was about to pour the whole potion into the bowl when she thought better of it. She just poured half of the vial into the bowl, which already contained a full dose of the vial. Mary motioned for the fairy to drink.
