It isn't much of a decision. You doubt the humans will believe anything you have to say and you really don't want to face punishment for whatever crime this creature committed. This body is still new to you, so you didn't want to try fighting, especially against professional guards.
You leap out of the window, praying that you are not jumping to your death. You land with a thud on the soft earthen ground below. Looking up, you see that it was only the second floor of a small inn. Still, it was quite a drop and your ankles are a little sore.
Looking around you are surprised to find yourself in the middle of what appears to be a medieval village. Small thatched cottages and wooden shops line the dirt roads running through the small town. It is late, with torches lining the streets lighting up the darkness of the night. But a surprising number of people are still milling about.
Well, people might not be the right word. The crowd consists of a mixture of humans and anthropomorphic animals. You see a small sheep-like woman shielding her young child from you. A bull-like creature is frozen in place, his hammer still poised above the anvil in his blacksmith shop ready to strike, as he stares at you.
It takes you a while to figure it out, why all the people are staring at you while other animal hybrids were walking around freely. Then you feel the cool night air blow across your exposed nude scales. All of the other animals are clothed and you are naked.
"There she is! Don't let her get away!"
You look up at the window and see an angry human guard staring down at you, pointing his sword out the window in your direction. You take a quick note of the name of the inn before hobbling into a dark alley. You will return for that magic mirror. It is your only way to return home, after all. But for now you need to find some place to hide. And get some clothes, but maybe not in that order.
