Joey Parker was so excited to go to the water park for his birthday! It was a hot day, and Joey was thrilled. Looking at him, you wouldn't think that he was the type to love waterslides and thrills. He was a short kid, and was just turning 11. His big glasses and scrawny body made him look more nerdy than other kids. And no matter how hard he tried, nobody would ever believe that Joey was a thrill seeker. They just told him to go read a book. Joeys biggest dream was to have people take him seriously and to be the thrill seeker that he was inside.
His family pulled into the water park and went to the gate. The ticket lady looked down at Joey and gave a pity smile. The kind that doesn't reach your eyes. She sold Joeys parents the tickets and then stared down at Joey again.
"Hi sweetie! Are you excited for the water park? Just remember that you can't ride any rides unless you check the height requirements first! I think you would just adore the Toddler Tugboats! But no big kid rides for you, okay?" Joey may have only been 5' 1" tall, but he shook with rage. The only thing worse than being treated like a nerd was being treated like a little kid.
The family walked into the park. Immediately, his jock parents and siblings ran off to enjoy the big slides. Joey was left all alone to guard the cabana his family had rented. Joey pulled out his birthday cake. It was just a bland, white cake with nothing on it. Joeys family never really paid attention to him, as they assumed he was just a nerd. His other siblings were jocks, so they weren't super close.
Joey stuck a candle into his cake and made a wish. "I wish that I could be the person I really want to be!" He blew out the candles and started to open his single present. Joeys eyes blurred for a second, the he resumed unwrapping his gift. In the bag was a pair of shark swim trunks. They were really cool, and almost seemed to be glowing with a bluish light.
Joey walked to the men's locker room. He took off his shorts and stared at his small, underdeveloped body. Just then, the curtain to his dressing room ripped back to reveal...
