While the rest of Moon Lake was celebrating a wedding of a different Jenkins, Melissa Jenkins was just waking up from her dreams. To be honest, it was rather troubling, with dreams of her...or at least a different her, filling her mind. She lifted herself out of bed, and took a moment to listen. She noted just how quiet the house had become, and she found it rather troubling. On a weekend morning, she'd expect her father down in the kitchen preparing breakfast. But on this morning, she didn't hear her father anywhere, and she was a little disturbed by this. She walked out of her room and took a moment to knock on the master bedroom door.
"Dad?" she called out as she knocked on the door. "Are you there?" She didn't hear any noise coming from the bedroom, and after a moment, she slowly opened the door. She didn't want a repeat of what she saw yesterday. However, after taking a quick glance in the room, she saw that no one was in there. She also noticed that the bed was still made, and that no one had slept in it all night. "How odd..." she mused to herself as she walked downstairs. Did he and Virginia never come home at all last night? Are they still outside?
Walking downstairs, she took a moment to explore the house a bit more, and it was quite clear that Harold hadn't come home that night. Melissa couldn't help but be a little worried, but she also knew her dad would be okay. I mean, he was a weretiger now, right? He could take care of himself, right? Would he need clothes? Thoughts like these went through her mind as she went to the kitchen to prepare some breakfast. As she prepared some cereal, her phone ringtone rang out causing her to jump a little. She picked up her phone and saw that it was Trevor calling. On one hand, she was rather excited to hear from him again. At the same time, the doubts that she had last night came back into her head. She wasn't sure how to react as she hit the answer button and brought the phone to her head. "Hello?" she asked as she answered the call.
"Melissa?" Trevor's voice called out.
"Yes? Trevor?" Melissa answered.
"Ah, good, um," Trevor started as he talked. "I had a great time last night, and I'm really glad to get to know you better."
Melissa smiled when she heard this and replied, "Yeah, I had a great time last night too. So," she asked while smirking, "Are you calling me because you didn't have enough of me?"
"Well, um, sorta, actually, I do have a question that I want to ask you." Trevor said before pausing for a little. "Are you free tonight?"
"Already?" Melissa responded with a smile, "Isn't a bit too soon to have another date?"
"Well, you see," Trevor replied, "There's this big school dance tonight. It's the big Halloween Social, and well, I've been wondering..." he took a deep breath before continuing. "Would you like to be my date for the dance?"
Melissa paused as she heard this. Her eyes darted around as she thought about her response. On the one hand, she was elated that he asked her, and she wanted to say yes without hesitation. On the other hand, she was still a bit conflicted about how unsure she was about how he felt about her.
"Well," she replied to Trevor's question, "I don't exactly have a costume I could wear to the dance."
"That's all right," Trevor said, "I'm sure we can fix you with something here at the farm."
"I see," she said as she stirred the milk in her cereal. She studied her cereal as she thought about her answer.
"Well, Trevor," she answered, "I..."
