Jake typed in "1000" into the box and pressed OK. (He also made sure the unaware was on Mandy). Suddenly, Mandy's room changed. Instead of the Raffi poster on the wall, a Periodic Table of Elements appeared. And instead of the huge stack of diapers, a bunch of tubes, beakers, and chemicals appereared. Instead of The Baby Book, a complicated Calculus book appeared. Every changed from a nursery to what looked like a lab.
"Jacob, why are you in my room?" Mandy asked. Even though Mandy was only two years old, she talked perfectly. "What are you doing on my computer?" Then she walked to the door. Not crawling. Not toddling. But perfect walking. "Please get out, Jacob. You too, Timothy. I'm trying to work on my equation that could end world hunger."
"Um... do you need help, Mandy?" Jake asked.
"Jacob," Mandy said. "I keep telling you. Call me Amanda. I know that you are much less smart than me, but I didn't you were that dumb. And no, I don't need help. Even if I did, you wouldn't understand any of it. So unless I need to walk you to the door, please get out."
Just then, Jake's mom came in. "Amanda," she said, "the president's on the phone. He wants to know how far you've gotten with your equation."
"I'll be right there," answered Mandy. "But first can you please tell Jacob and Timmy to stop messing with my advanced computer and get out of my room? I'm tired of Jacob downloading his stupid games on it."
"You heard her," mom said. She pushed Jake and Tim out of the room and shut Mandy's door. "It's still so amazing," mom said. "She's barely two but the smartest person in the world. An I.Q. of 1000. I didn't even know that was possible. One day she's a helpless baby in diapers and now she's doing things that even your father doesn't understand how to do." Then Jake's mom walked away daydreaming.
"This is crazy," Jake said to Tim. "Calculus from a two-year-old. An advanced computer. Calls from the president. Why did I type in 1000?"
"I don't see why you're worried," said Tim. "It would be awesome to be related to the smartest person in the world. Come on, let's do our homework. It will get our minds off this."
