Animalia's Funniest Home Videos - Part of the IAC

added by makutamon 6 years ago O

An unexpected, but not unappreciated, part of the IAC was a showing of many funny incidents caught on tape, shown as the popular WGN TV show America's Funniest Home Videos. There were many things to laugh at, but many were hoping for the $10,000 prize.

---

Fortunately, before the video clips started playing, there was a brief explanation of what this was.

"I don't understand why people getting hurt or in embarrassing situations are funny." Said Clara, stating what was on many uplifted Animalians' minds.

"It's a really old TV trope." Explained the host, "There's nothing funnier than pain, suffering, and humiliation as long as it's happening to somebody else."

"But why?" Asked Clara, still not getting it.

"Like I said, it's a really old trope." Answered the host, "I don't know how it started.
---

Many cases of funny was a simple case of open-mouth-insert-foot-bite-you-in-the-butt, such as this:

Anne Cumbertin was heading home one night still in her athletic clothes and medal when a typical example of a Joe Schmo, thinking she was a wandering prostitute, started putting the charm on her. At first she was irritated at it, but then she got a 'wonderful, awful idea' as the saying is. Charming him to follow her, she left him outside as she changed into a daring bathrobe from Miss Vivian's Intimacy Boutique. When he saw her in it, he was significantly distracted enough that he never saw the frying pan behind her back. When he came to, he was in the APD with only two options, pay a $150 fine or be registered as a sex offender.

---

Another example was amusing reactions to bad comments, such as this:

At the Brumation House, one waitress was bringing over a pair of hot tea in coffee mugs when she saw, and heard, one of the customers she was bringing them to describing her as "cuddly as a sawblade, but a real looker." In response, she proceeded to "accidentally" spill his cup of tea in his lap, much to the amusement of the people watching the video later.

---

There were also the same amount of bad flirting, talent fails, and cheesy one-liners, as there were often caught on camera in Animalia, as well as something new called "Pickled Nincompoops", which was basically stupid humans not acting right after getting drunk.

One such example of a "Pickled Nincompoop" video was "Night of the Living Drunks", where a severely drunk man tried to blindside an Animalian police officer with an empty bottle and acting, in a way, similar to a zombie in an old zombie B movie.

Another example was "Rock-a-bye Drunk Man", where a drunk man generally misbehaved in a tree, before falling out due to the branch breaking.

---

The funny videos from Mieni Atoll were labeled as "Surf Nuts, Beach Bums, and Sand Dweebs", with all the similar silliness that was found in Animalia. There was a showing of the Bowling Ball Blunder, as well as other kinds of "Stupid Cupid" clips.

---

The three winners of the money prizes were as follows: "Night of the Living Drunks" got third place; "A Pop for a Pup" (Sarah's prank of Malice while at Mieni Atoll) got second place; and first place, and the $10,000 prize, went to "Skunky Shanghai" (Anne's 'revenge' on the Joe Schmo). While her actions were technically against the Edicts, she was able to get off with a warning because of her past abuse.
