His twin brother Alex was standing right in front of his wolven twin. Zack honestly didn't know Alex had recognized him. He was taller, stockier, hairier, and donned in army uniform.
"Alex!" Zack said in shock. "What are you doing here?" Zack knew full well that Alex went to a public school, not this one.
"When we didn't hear from you in a week, I came to see what happened." Alex said. "So, WHAT HAPPENED!?"
"SHH!" Alex told his twin. "Look, there's no time to explain. You need to leave. NOW!"
"No, I came to see what happened, and I'm not leaving till I get an answer."
"No, listen. You don't have a ch-" Zack began, before he buckled to his knees by the sound of the dog whistle coming from behind him.
"I thought we said 'no prisoners', Private." The German officer barked behind him.
"D-don't hurt him!" Zack said, blocking his now shorter twin from the view of the German officer in front of him. "He's not part of the uprising, he just came here at a bad time, that's all."
The man spoke. "Well, rebellion or not, you are not following orders. 'No Prisoners', remember?" The man seemed mad enough to pop a blood vessel. Zack nodded in shame and remorse.
"Good. Now,are you going to put a bullet through his skull or will I have to do it?" He produced a rifle from a hidden holster.
"I-I can't. He's my brother. I can kill my family." Zack looked straight into the officer's eyes with half determination, half fear. Tears were streaming from his eyes.
"Your brother?" The officer said with a shead, pushing him to the side and looking at Alex. "Hmm, yes. Your twin brother, no doubt." The three were both silent for a couple of seconds as distant fire filled the silence. 'It's a shame you don't look alike anymore!" He knocked the hat off of Zack's head, exposing the ears and face of a wolf. Alex was taken aback by this revelation. "What happened to you?" He said, as the German officer turned to him.
"Why, the same thing that is going to happen to YOU!" He said, scooping Alex up by the neck and holding him eye level.
Zack had the worst feeling in the world right now. "What do you mean?" Alex replied.
"Well, weal are always in need of more troops." The officer glared at the frightened human.
"No!" Zack said with what little courage he had left. "I won't let you do that to him!"
"Oh." The officer gleefully replied. "So, what I'm hearing is..." He placed his pistol up against Alex's temple. "NO!" Zack said, half growling, half yelling.
"OK, then." The pistol was dug a few cm into Alex's skin. "Do you want to be like HIM?" He faced Alex towards his brother, who was still crying, matting his hand's fur down with tears. "Or, like HIM?" He faced Alex towards a science poster that featured a skeleton saying "Death: It's Natural! (When your over 70...)".
" Well? Choose!"
Alex was stuck. He definitely didn't want to go through what his brother was going through, but he also didn't want to die. But if he joined, he still might die. It took him an uncomfortably tense moment to make his decision.
