Witness Protection

added by AdobeFats 19 years ago A

Detective Manning stood there watching the elevator door close as his mind raced wondering if Wesley's answer was maybe a confession of some sort. At any rate he was planning to follow the truck and it's horse trailer to the stable where Sarah was to be boarded.

About two hours later the Detective is snooping about the stables as he sees Sarah pawing the cobblestone floor and looking very aggitated.

Try as he might Detective Manning could not get the filly to make any movements offering she was intelligent or once even human. Even as he tried to converse with the young horse her stable groom called Wesley on the phone.

It was evening after finding Sarah not at home that the Detective returned to Wesley's penthouse apartment.

Again not wishing to be made a fool by Wesley the Detective waits his chance. As he stood inside the emergency stairway and looking out the half opened door he saw a man with an angry woman come to pay a call on Wesley.

They knocked and the door opened letting them inside. Before the door closed and locked shut Detective Manning ran to catch the automatic door, just slipping inside.

The multi room penthouse was one sweet looking pad. Yet as he sneaked about not one servant or maid was seen. Then the sound of voices raised in anger as the man with his lady friend argued while Wesley talked.

Had the Detective thought about it he'd soon figured out that the entire apartment was under video survaillance. Wesley had seen the Detective slip in and was prepared for him in ways the Detective would never have expected.

The arguing people soon calmed down till the sound of the lady's laughter urged him to look in on Wesley and his guests.

Wesley stood his back to the door as the Detective peered inside. The lady who walked in with her man was standing just to oneside of Wesley and handing him quite a sum on money. It wasn't until she stood to one side that the Detective saw her friend.

Hunched down to kneeling the man was clutching his gut as if in some major pain. A low toned moan came from theman as Wesley walked over to him and uncorked a small green glass bottle. As the man knelt there head bowed down Wesley poured the small bottle's contents down over the man's hair.

Then as if poisened or something the man took to shivering and making odd noises.

The Detective was ready to step out of his hiding place but stopped as the kneeling man lifted his face. A face showing someone in pure agony. Maybe in pain from the mixture poured over his head, or maybe something even worse.

"I'm sorry Mable!" spoke the man showing his pain.

Stepping close but still back enough she grimly looked down at the man. "You were a rotten husband, you called me every name in the book! Yet of all the names you had for me was one that made me mad, an old goat! Every damn time you came home feeling angry about that dirty business you run I'd get called an old goat! Well now its done, our marriage is ended! Wesley will get me a signed certificate of death for those who ask, while you my darling will be living away at a nice farm. Now I'm not an old goat, you are!" the lady said it like she made a curse.

Ready to step out of hidding the Detective again stopped just short of taking his action. The sight of the man's face stopped everything as it was growing dark brown of skin color and hairs sprouted to cover the changing skin.

The lady walked out leaving the changing man groaning his goated fate as Wesley too left the room.

Then stepping to the man the Detective kneeled down drawing the man's attention away from his painful feelings. An offer of protection if he'd be a witness against his assailants was offered. The agonized man looked up at Detective Manning giving him the only statement he was capable of, "Baaaa !"

"Getting a little too noisy there Detective!" said Wesley as the Detective spun around reaching for his gun.

"No quick moves please Sir!" said the Detective.

"Me, never! I move slow and knowing just what is needed to be done!" said Wesley back.

"Change him back!" ordered the Detective.

"Baaa !" said the changing man almost half way to becoming a fine goat sire.

"I need him and Sarah as witness' to your criminal deeds!" said the Detective.

"You visited Sarah, how nice! As for Myron there, well the small bottle of potion added to his original one he drank is making a fine big buck goat out of a puny small man. He won't be changing back to a man ever! Even his human thoughts are getting attled and by tonight he won't understand you much less care to try." announced Wesley.

The Detective seeing his predicament getting worse pointed the gun at Wesley while inching his feet toward the door.

"You want to leave, fine! You think of reporting what you witnessed, good luck! People don't believe in mircles let alone magic either! On the other hand I offer to the highest bidder the best witness program on the face of this old earth. None, no not one of those placed by me into protective custody ever again had reason to fear of hurt by a human being. Indeed all have gone to live a simple life with some work but nothing to cause them the anger and hatred shown by this man for his good wife. Now then if your ready, I will offer to you two fine ways of early retirement!" offered Wesley.
