Disappearance case

added by MajesticHentaiSenpai 7 years ago O

The name's Greg, and I've been a detective for over ten years, gotten involved in all sorts of odd cases from all kinds of people, some more questionable than others - however, on just another seemingly average day, I find myself with with something that sounds like it came straight out of some kind of horror story.

I'd say I'm a well-built guy, toned muscles and a fairly broad build, short, dark brown hair and a but of a stubble. Job attire just consists of a white dress shirt and black slacks, held up by a pair of suspenders - I'm not really that picky about having a professional look. Anyway...

It was early morning - just got my morning coffee when I got a call from an unknown number. When I picked it up, I was met with a frantic, male voice, rambling on about some stuff I didn't even have time to process. At first, I thought it was just some kind of prank call, though as the call went on and the man managed to calm down, he managed to grab my curiosity.

What he described reminded me of this headline from the papers... "People and animals gone missing around an abandoned lab!" Apparently, his daughter had suddenly vanished around this aforementioned lab, and seeing how the police seemed to have given up on the case, he turned to me for help.

Seeing as how things have been quiet recently, I decided to look into this myself - besides, the whole ordeal does sound kind of exciting, a real, creepy mystery. After years of messed up cases, I guess I've become a bit apathetic when it comes to the people involved.

Putting my coffee mug aside and throwing on a pair of sunglasses, I head out to my car to head to the scene of the disappearances - the lab said to have been doing some questionable experiments back in the day - from what little research I managed to do before heading out, I found that it had something to do with creating human-animal hybrids... How convenient that these disappearances fit both categories - I can't help but chuckle a bit at that coincidence.

As I'm about to unlock the car, though, a familiar voice calls from behind me - and from the side of the building's corner comes my, ahem... Assistant. Honestly, I really do prefer working alone, but after merciless begging, I gave in... This assistant of mine, Camilla, is a short girl, pretty thin, too - kind of pale and her black hair is essentially in a bowl cut. She always gets dressed like the detectives you see in movies, with the brown trench coat and dress shirt under a couple other layers of clothing that just looks uncomfortably warm, hat and slacks that seem a size too big for her, just bagging up at her feet.

"Do we have a case, Sir?" She asks oh so hopefully, probably longing for some action after I've mostly had her deal with snatched purses. But it's impossible to lie to those hopeful eyes. I sigh, waving for her to get over in the passenger seat.

"Yeah, I d- I mean... We do." I pause for a moment as I sit down in the driver's seat. "You know the disappearances that have been all over the news?" Surely she must know of them - would save a lot of explaining.

"Of course. Some people think there's a maniac hiding in the building, or something." She comments thoughtfully as I start the engine. "There's also a theory about the experiments still being done to this day..."

"You do know the lab was shut down years ago, right? I doubt anyone would even be funding the research." The chat continues for a while, until we both just grow quiet, with her probably brewing up some more theories. Nevertheless, we make it to the lab without much trouble, and it looks just as beat up as I had imagine. It's a kind of small building, pure white and with only a few windows, though the few windows there are have been shattered, and the walls are covered by graffiti, moss, and other stuff nature has thrown at it.
Luckily for us, the door is already opened, one of the hinges seem to have been broken a while ago. Though a bit cautious, I step inside, Camilla following behind - the interior is just like the exterior, taken over by nature...and ravaged by people. Though any valuable equipment must have been taken out long ago, as all that remains are some old, worn furniture.

"Sure doesn't look like anyone lives here..." I mumble to myself as I kick a chair over. However, uncharacteristically, Camilla doesn't respond... And as I turn, I don't even see her. "Alright, not funny. Stop hiding." I say with a sigh, crossing my arms impatiently... But still, she's nowhere to be seen or heard. Just as I'm about to take a step towards the entrance, though, the floor seems to...collapse below me. Before I even have time to react, I'm already falling into pitch blackness.
