Who's At The Bar?

added by granite concept 6 years ago BM O Hairy Ethnic

You might as well go out and enjoy life as Nirmit. As yourself. Why not?

The first thing you do is call in sick to work. It's a Sunday, and you want to have a few drinks without the dullness of tomorrow's responsibility looming over you. Maybe this way, you could spend the night with someone friendly, even. You put on a crisp white dress shirt. You enjoy the contrast it creates with your dark skin. You leave a couple buttons undone to keep your swarthy chest hair slightly visible. You also put on a pair of nice shoes, shiny black leather ones that you usually only wear for important meetings and weddings. You decide to slick your hair too, push it back a little. Looking at yourself in the mirror, you like what you see. You look like a young businessperson, a hot one, if you might say so. You can't wait to see what other people think of the new you.

You head to a local gay bar, an upscale one where people typically went to spend 7$ on a glass of craft beer after clocking out. You had also considered something a little wilder, more raunchy; there was definitely no shortage of clubs in this part of the city. But you'd rather take things slow. Work up to clothes being torn off, rather than having it happen instantaneously.

You walk into the bar. It's called Rust. It gets its name from all the decor, made from antique machinery and cheerfully out of date knick-knacks. It was the kind of place that still did handwritten signage. The only thing that gave it away as a gay bar were the photos all over the wall. Large, black and white prints that depicted factory workers of all shapes, sizes, and states of undress. The lighting in here was a warm orange color, dim enough to give some ambience but bright enough to get a good look at whoever you're talking to. You take a look around, and spot a few people of interest around the bar.

First, there's the bartender. You can't help but think 'hipster'. He's dressed up in a tight white button up, done up all the way, with a red bow-tie and suspenders. He's wearing a black apron around his waist. He has a sleeve of tattoos; you can't make them out from here, but that could be a good conversation starter. He's wearing round glasses, whose frames are a copper color. They only cover half the lens, giving him an antiquated look; although perhaps not of the same era as his uniform. His hair is a mixed blonde color, kind of a muddy tone. Like yours used to be, actually. The dull color of his hair (which was back in a tight bun) brought more attention to his mustache and bushy beard. Those are a fiery red color, with darker strands interspersed. He's buff, very buff, and his thick biceps strain the short sleeves of his top. He's got a broad build to him. Like a lumberjack, but in a more sophisticated, considered manner. He's laughing with some people at the bar. You're not sure how old you would judge him to be. Maybe in his late 30s?

One of the people at the bar catches your eye too. He's dressed kind of like you, in a classy-but-casual kind of way. He's holding a drink in his hand and smiling. The ice clinks when he sips or tilts his glass, making a kind of strange music with his low, soft laughter. He has blue eyes; so blue, you can tell from across the room. He looks like he's fresh out of college and putting his degree to good use. He's probably your age. He's a little shorter than you, probably 5'6" or 5'7", but he doesn't seem self-conscious. Really, he seems confident; and with good reason. His features are so symmetrical they look sculpted. His shirt, long sleeved, is rolled up a little, and you can see by his toned arms he must work out. The garment in question is made of thin fabric, and even in the dim light you can sort of see through it. His pecs look well defined, picture-perfect, and maybe he even has abs. You can be sure he doesn't have an ounce of fat on him though. Definitely a stud, maybe a former jock. His hair is cut short, corporate style, but it looks good on him. Well, probably most things would look good on this guy. He seems to be here with a couple friends, but he's looking around a little, seeing who else is there.

The one person the stud doesn't seem to notice is a reserved looking guy sitting by himself. The guy keeps looking over in the direction of the young professional's group. You assume he must be looking at the stud because of his obvious appeal. This guy on the other hand, is kind of an opposite to the young man at the bar. His posture is very closed. He's sitting hunched, leaning into his arms which were folded in front of him. He's nursing a glass of water, occasionally pausing to flip through the drink menu. He's kind of a nerdy type. He has a mop of curly brown hair that would look cute, except he was probably a couple weeks overdue for a haircut. He has a large, beak-like nose, and thick, squarish glasses. His facial features look mostly good though; he's a handsome guy in a lot of ways, but he doesn't seem to know it. He's wearing a green sweater over a high-collared red gingham dress shirt, a look that comes off a little mismatched. Probably good enough for any IT department but it seems out of place here - everyone else is in slacks and a shirt, some even in suits. He must be pretty tall. It's hard to tell exactly from here, but he could be anywhere from 6'2" to 6'6". He looks thin; the word 'gangly' comes to mind instantly. Probably wouldn't be too hard to talk to him if you made the first move.
