Nate immediately had second thoughts about shoplifting the potions and walked back into the mall. For all he knew they had some sort of mystical enchantment that would turn him into a poodle or some sort of heinous monstrosity for the rest of his life rather than what he wanted to be. He walked back into the Mythical You store and made his way to the counter to check out. The sales clerk, a perky young woman, smiled as he walked up. Nate set the two bottles down on the counter. The sales clerk looked at each bottle with a concerned look on her face.
"What is it?" asked Nate.
"I hope you're not planning on taking these together," she responded.
"Why?" Nate was suddenly very glad he came back to the store.
"It would transform you into a terrifying and horrific creature that you'd never be able to turn back from." Nate could tell she was deadly serious.
"Oh. Yeah, no. One was for me and the other was for a friend."
"Oh, good." the Sales clerk immediately returned to her usual sunny disposition. "That'll be 14.93."
Nate handed her some cash and she rang up the sale. "Say, I was wondering about the numbering on the bottles. What does that mean, exactly?"
"Oh." The Sales Clerk examined the bottles closely. "Well, this werewolf one will transform you into a bi-pedal wolf man with more wolf features than man, with big claws and fangs. You should look most impressive. The demon one is number four. That is the highest they go. You'd become a pitch black, scaled monstrosity with horns and would look quite fearsome."
"Cool," whispered Nate. The Sales Clerk handed Nate his change and placed both bottles in a small paper bag. She handed the bag to Nate, smiling.
"Have a nice day!" she said. Nate thanked her and exited the store. He made his way back to the car and climbed in, setting his purchase on the passenger seat next to him. He pulled both bottles out of the bag and examined each one. The question was which one to take.
