Melissa, Trevor, Harold, and Virginia all made their way to the gym where the dance was being held. When the four entered in the dance hall, they were greeted by the sight of various weres in their costumes and fursonas. Many of the people there were in their fursonas and in costume at the same time. There were a few that were just in their fursonas, and there were a few normal people (or at least untransformed) that were dressed up similar to how Mel was. What really impressed Mel was just how normal being a were was.
"If you'll excuse me," Virginia said as she took hold of Harold's arm, "we have a dance we need to chaperone and make sure that there's no...mischief going on." She pulled away with Harold in tow, with him saying, "Have fun".
Mel noticed the wolfman manning the DJ booth wearing nothing but a Hawaiian shirt. It reminded her of something, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Her thoughts were interrupted when a pair of black furred hands hugged her from behind.
"Mel! Hi!" a female voice said from behind. It didn't take long for Mel to recognize who was speaking behind her as she turned around.
"Meg! It's good to see you," Mel responded, hugging her werevixen friend. Megumi was dressed in traditional Japanese kimono. "Have you seen Jason, Roy, or Alice yet?"
Megumi nodded as she tried to point out various members of their group. With the number of people around, it was hard for Mel to pick people out. In the darkness, though, she could make out a were-rabbit dressed as Jessica Rabbit, and a weretiger dressed as a cop, and a werewolf dressed as a...werewolf? Mel rolled her eyes when she saw Roy without a costume.
"I'm so glad you and Trevor could make it. Let's talk later when it's less busy. I've got my paws full making sure that everything runs smoothly. Now, if you'll excuse me..." Meg ran off to handle some other part of the dance.
Mel turned to Trevor and asked, "Is she always like this?"
"Busy?" Trevor replied with a smirk. "Oh yeah. You should see her when we plan our out of town trips."
"I see," Mel replied quietly, unsure of what to make of the situation.
Slow music started to play over the speakers, and Trevor took Mel's hand asking, "Shall we?" Mel nodded and followed Trevor out to the dance floor for their first dance of the evening.
