Now what Mark/Mary hadn't been awake for was those first 33 minutes of the transformation,so he hadn't been aware
of the political situation his altering mutating body was causing everywhere else.
Captain Issac Bligh ( yeah,a distant relative of the Bligh/Christian Fletcher/Mustiny on the Bounty fame)
had been in his cabin looking dismally forward to a stay at dull plodding Levantia for the next 2 years.
Essentially his orders were to take ship and crew and crew to the country
that was
the birthplace of the paperclip.
It wasn't for no reason that no other veterinarian had refused to apply for a posting
aboard the Wop May.
They were sailing to Dullsville,so to speak.
So when Jack,Tom,Dick ,Harry and Clare frantically entered his cabin and told him they
had illegally kidnapped a American civillian ,who was now sprouting scales,the Captain Bligh's eyes shined with hope.
Maybe they weren't heading to Dullsville.(Levantia)
So Bligh was most pleased to find a (slowly) changing kidnapped American civillian
in the cabin of Jack Tarr and Harry Jones ( no relation to Davey)
Bligh immediately ordered the mutating American put aboard the
aircraft carriers 60 foot launch and ordered Tom and Dick to 'volunteer' to accompany the changing person.
So after suiting up,Tom and Dick had gone aboard the 60 footer ,Mark,with various sensors attached went aboard it as well
and the Wop May held back at a distance as Clare sat in the "Sensor ' and watched with
fascinated horror the readouts that were telling her Mark Hyde was undergoing some
major alterations.
Clare was sniffling and sobbing,Bligh was happy as a clam and Jack and Harry were worried for their
two shipmated trapped aboard the sixty foot launch with the monster.
Both craft were speeding on a flat ocean surface,not going anywhere in particular
(except maybe in the direction of paperclip capital Levantiaville)
when whatever force that was pulling and pushing at Marks mind and body had accelerated dramatically.
"Kerwhoosh" went the supernatural energies as the giant worm hole openned
up,revealling a storm tossed sea on the other side of the worm hole,as well
as a distant island picked up by both crafts radaer sets
The launch went through,and Captain Bligh,given a choice between sailing his ship to paperclips
or a mysterious island in a unknown and unexplored reality,seized the ships
wheel himself ,ordered "Full Steam Ahead" through
the speaking tube and the aircraft carrier
leapt through the wormhole after her 60 foot launch just before the wormhole
closed again.
The rest we know,Tom and Dick leapt overboard,to be rescued by the Wop Mays
rescue team
and Clare stared in mute horror /fascination as the creature aboard that sinking launch
got ovaries the size of basketballs.
So it was a 50 foot(?) dragoness that leapt into the air from the disintegrating grounded launch and headed
for the mysterious island,whilst everybody else aboard the aircraft carrier stood by the crafts side and watched the beasts flight with their
field glasses
