"No, no, no! This is not going to work at all, " said the horse as she pushed her way past him.
It wasn't hard. She was easily seven feet tall from hoof to the top of her head and outweighed him by several pounds. The horse stormed into the living room and picked up a phone.
"Listen, I just met the roommate you gave me and .... uh huh .... uh huh ... but.... but .... no, I can't ..... fine! " said the horse as she slammed down the phone.
The horse walked back over to Josh and looked down at him, sighing loudly.
"Okay, it looks like we are stuck together, for the time being at least. So we are going to have to make this work somehow. My name is Delilah. And you are ...." asked the horse, holding out her hand.
"Josh," replied Josh, reaching out his hand to shake hers. His hand felt small in the large, soft furry hand of the horse. Her grip was firm and strong.
"Sorry about all that stuff before," said Delilah, blushing a little as she reached up and ran a hand down her long mane. " I just wasn't expecting someone like you. I thought I was going to get a roomate a little more like.... well, like me."
"You mean a furry?" Josh asked.
Delilah snorted and stomped a hoof on the ground, a scowl plastered on her long face.
"Does this look like a costume to you?" said Delilah, running the thick black nails of her hands down the fur lining her chest and long legs. "This is 100% horse! Well, 50% horse. I am a hybrid, after all. Haven't you ever met a hybrid before?"
Josh shook his head.
Delilah sighed and slapped a hand across her face.
"Lord, save me from the ignorance of fools. You suburbanites are SO out of touch!" said Delilah.
Josh continued to stare at Delilah in shock. Out of touch? Was this some new fashion trend? A lab accident? A natural result of evolution? Were there more creatures like this? How had he not heard of them before? Something like this surely would have been on the news, even in his small hometown.
Delilah noticed that Josh was continuing to ogle her.
"You aren't a furry, are you?" asked Delilah, arching an eyebrow curiously.
"Um, no," stammered Josh. Sure, he had admired the occasional picture of an attractive anthropomorphic woman. He had even watched a few videos featuring one of them. But he had never dressed up or gone to a convention. At least, none that he wanted to admit to Delilah...
"Shame. It would have made things simpler. Come on, " said Delilah as she grabbed his hand and led Josh into her bedroom.
