It's the year 2200, technology has advanced far beyond the world of the 21st century. Computers are in every household, and everything is run on a matrix of connected networks that all send information to each other. This is called the Hive Net, a constantly growing network that, similar to the human brain, can learn as more people connect and access it. This means it's nearly impossible to hack, because whenever one person finds a door, the network learns from this mistake and promptly fixes it. So with that in mind let's begin with your story.
You wake up to the sound of your robot butler, a very realistic looking old man who carries an heir of respect with every stride. He bows to you and hands you a package. "A package has arrived for you." He states in a shaky aged voice. His programmed British accent adding to the authenticity of his model.
You grab the box with a huge grin. It's finally here, the last piece of the puzzle. See for a long time you've been aware of a secret society of like-minded brilliant hackers that live inside the Hive Net. Those who have found a way to the heart of the network, and allowing them to take full control of the worlds news, money, privacy, and much more. After reading through as many books as you could, knowing that if you tried to search online you'd be caught, you came up with this brilliant plan. Using the virtual reality helmet from your old game console, and modifying it in such a way, you could theoretically enter the internet with your mind, and break your way through.
It's well known that half the reason hackers can't break through is because of the speed at which is required to type. If you're using your mind instead, then it should make the battle that much easier. Of course such a project will require caution, as entering the internet in such a way could prove either fatal, or very bad in terms of your own brain being scattered to the quantum wind.
So after a few minutes adding the final touches to your upgraded VR helmet, you decide to give it the name NexusBreaker or NB and write it over the top of the helmet. Who knows, if this works you can sell it in the black market. You quickly put on the helmet and sit down in your chair. "I have to be careful...i had to disable the safety lock inside the helmet...meaning while i'm in the net, anyone could just pull the helmet off, then there goes my way out." you say to yourself.
Pressing the side button on your helmet, it hums to life and forces your consciousness forward. A menu appears in front of your face showing you your personal data. It's the account you created for the Hive Net, but of course you plan on going off grid and prepare to delete the menu. You take a look at it one last time. It shows you are.
