As the group walked through the rest of the town, careful to stay out of sight just in case that truck comes by again. James and Louis were leading the front followed by mike with Jen close behind him, then Lion, Dan, Susan, and Carly.
They searched a couple buildings but found very little supplies, then the group came to a gas station near the end of town where they saw movement inside.
"Okay, me and mike will go through the front. Louis and leon will take the side entrance. Susan and Jen will cover the back. Dan, take Carly and cover that group of cars to the right." James planed and everyone got into position.
In the back Susan spotted a military vehicle but ignored it for now, she had to get into position, but by surprise she and Jen had been grabbed by two men in improvised combat gear, each disarming the women and covering their cries for help.
The same thing happened to Carly and Dan. When the remaining four busted through the doors they were disarmed and restrained expertly by similar soldiers. In the middle of the building was a dark skinned woman in her mid 30s with shaved hair, wearing a tan shirt buttoned up all the way with some kind of command rank on the collars. The shirt wwas tucked into black military pants with black combat boots and light combat gear.
The men led Carly, Dan, Susan, and Jen into the gas station and the soldiers released the others.
"Sorry about that, you can't be to careful out here. I'm Captain Lori Jones of the East Union". She said.
"I'm James, this is my partner Louis, the others are with us." He responded.
Carly turned to Dan,
"What's the East Union?" She asked.
"The East Union is the single most strongest faction in the entire east coast." Captain Jones answered for Dan.
"Were on a mission to re-retrieve an asset for the E.U. I can't say anymore but it's very important we find that asset and bring it back to base." She explained.
"Were headed to a place called Greenwood Pines, supposed to be a safe place or something. And from there to Mckennly military base, these two girls are looking for their mother." He elaborated.
"Hmm, Greenwood...I've heard talk of some safe haven near the mountains to the north, could be the place your looking for. As for Mckennly, last I heard it had gone dark, that base is too far northwest for our jurisdiction". The captain pondered out loud.
The two groups parted ways but suddenly an attack from a heavy machine gun mounted on a truck started spraying bullets.
Everyone got down, taking cover from the barrage of lead,
"Contact: six mobiles, one stat-gunner." Carly heard one of the soldiers say.
"Copy. Henderson, Smith, provide cover. Estavez, Kelly, take point." Another man ordered.
The group along with the captain made a break for the back exit once the two men gave covering fire. They ran to the military vehicle and loaded in with one soldier getting in the turret on top. The car curved into the street and the soldier opened fire on the rival turret, ripping up the truck and eliminating the threats. The army can drove along the empty road and out of the town.
The car crused on the vacant road and headed towards a fork in the road with two paths.
