CYOTF (Human)

Four wheels and a roof...

added by Gunslinger 19 years ago BM

All three of them stood, stunned, trying to wrap their minds around the concept that they were in parallel universe...

...when a flash of lightening breifly illuminated the scene. Though considerably less severe then the storm of their own world, the rain here was just as wet, just as cold, and the lighening just as bright - and Jack just happened to be looking in the right direction when the breif flare of actinic whiteness broke the night.

"All right!" He crowed, pumping a fist in the air as he stumbled across the uneven field towards the boxy shape he'd seen briefly revealed. "A car!"

Actually, it was technically a truck, they three of them discovered when they got to it. It was an old Range Rover, of they type and style used by the British Army for years as their answer to the US Army's ubiquitous Jeep. It's once white-and-red paint scheme was faded and much-patched in grey primer, but it sat on four fully-inflated (if balding) tires, and all the glass, though dusty, was intact.

Though locked, the rear driver's-side door opened when Jack tugged on the handdle, the lock mechanism having rusted to uselessness. Eagerly, he piled into the back seat of the vehicle, and Sandy followed him, taking the time to unlock the driver's door for Gary, who slid behind the wheel.

"No keys..." Gary reported, feeling both relieved and guilty at 'breaking into' somebody's car. "Uh... maybe I can hot-wire it, though..."

Ignoring Gary, Jack was rumaging through the piles of stuff filling the cargo bed of the vehicle, and Sandra guiltily joined him in ransacking the mess. Witha flourish, she pulled a faded but clean towel from the pile of odds-and-ends, and quickly began towelling her dripping red hair.

Frowning at Sandra's good fortune, Jack continued digging around until he came across a denim jacket - not nearly as clean or as stylish as his own, but dry where his was soaked.

Shivering, Jack shrugged out of his own jacket and began to pull on the one he'd found. At first, he didn't think he was going to get it on - it seemed too tight in the shoulders and even tighter around the waist. However, with a little bit of tugging, he got it on, and even managed to get the buttons done up when he sucked in his stomach...

Sandra's startled gasp whipped his head around - and he stared at a very stunned Sandra, who was running shaky fingers through her merely-damp hair.

Hair that now spilled in thick waves down around her face and shoulders, spilling down her back all the way to the seat, longer, thicker and more luxurious then it had been just seconds before.

"My hair...!" Sandra said, stunned, trying to figure out how towelling her hair could have possibly had this effect.

Gary, oblivious, suddenly shouted gleefully - and brough the engine roaring to life.

With his hot-wiring, not only the engine sprang to life - so did the dome-light in the roof. Grinning in self-satsifaction, Gary turned and looked over his right shoulkder, expecting praise...

"What the fuck...?!" Gary, usually adverse to cursing, blurted out in surprise as he stared at Jack in shock. "What happened to you!"

"What?" Jack asked, confused, since he thought that Gary must be talking about Sandra - but he wasn't looking at the woman with the now-massive mane of red hair, but at him.

In point of fact, at the jean jacket he wore...

...which, in the glow of the dome-light, wasn't the faded light blue he'd thought it was, but a faded pastel pink.

It was a GIRL'S denim jacket - and it was now fitting perfectly over Jack's broad shoulders and taut six-pack abs.

What had been his broad shoulders and taut abs, at least - for Gary was staring at a Jack who now boasted narrow, slender shoulders, and a thin, almost wasp-waist.

A Jack screeched in horror and his hands scrablled of his impossibly reshaped torso, gary turned his stunned gaze towards Sandra - and finally discovered her now massive head of hair, his already sagging jaw dropping even further at the sight.

"What the hell is going on here...?" He stammered - but his mind was simply to awash in unexpected shock to let him correctly deduce the cause of what he was seeing.

Instead, driven by an 'instinct' common to many people in such an advanced society, Gary's immediate response was to 'get help' - though he didn't know how any doctor, policeman of firefighter could explain what had happened to Jack.

It didn't matter - becuase when you 'got help', it all became somebody else's job to figure it out.

With that in mind, Gary threw the old four-by-four into gear, backed rapidly down the overgrown graveled track, and onto the highway, where he aimed the snout of the boxy vehicle towards the nearby town, and jammed on the accelerator.
