Qickly David paged the great book as the thought of becoming his favorite animal was being thrust before him.
Thick parchment pages, hand written in quill pen and India inks. The print was so thick he could feel the letters on each line.
After a few delighted moments he sat back, his mind a whirl with the possibilities.
As David opened the box he retieved from his truck he saw a silver coin about four inches across and covered in letters and sybols. As shaky fingers toyed the bright coin out of its wooden box the feeling of absolute power seemed to pulse from within it.
As he looked again to the book he noted a circle which the author had placed above each spell. Taking the coin David fit it into the circled spot as the page full of print glowed a yellowish green.
David peered over the page its theme that of making someone a horse. An open line for what must be the person's name, another for the type of horse one might become, and then the duration was maybe the last item for making something come to pass.
Taking a pencil David wrote his full name into the page line he supposed was made for thus.
The second open line he wrote in his favorite fantasy "Welsh Mountain Stallion Pony".
The third line left open he had to think about only to write, "One Solar Day".
Then as best he could David began to say the Latin words with the three inserted lines he'd written in English.
The coin began to hum!
The book's print glowed ever brighter!
The room lights flickered and went out making his room blacker than the deepest darkest cave.
A wind whirled about him its was so strong he felt his clothing torn from off arms, chest, and legs.
The book had power and David was so thrilled for himself he barely noticed the odd feelings he was beginning to know.
