As Katie's friends tried to decide who won ups become Merlins new apprentice, Katie and Josh walked arm and arm. The young couple exchanged small talk trying to get to know each other. Katie listened intently as she gazed longingly at him.
Josh was a 21 and was majoring in business. While not at the top of his class he maintained an impressive GPA of 3.5. He planned on graduating that spring and hopefully helping his older sister at her shop before moving on to bigger things. Katie could only smile as she listened intently.
Josh continued to talk as Katie gazed at him. A mix of feelings flooded the yang woman now, compounded by the fact that she was still a child in an adult body. The more adult parts of her wanted a future with this young man, not marriage (she knew she was to young for that) but a relationship. Someone that could open up a whole new aspect of her magical adulthood. The child part of her knew though that she was still just a child. She was too young to think about dating or kissing or more. Katie tried to shake these childish feelings out of her head. She had the ability to be any age she wished and the more she stayed an adult the more this world appealed to her.
"You know," Josh said with a smirk. "I've probably spent the last 20 minutes talking about myself. I've probably told you everything except my cubscout troop. Why don't you tell me about yourself."
"There's not much to tell," Katie said shyly. "I'm an education major that lives with my mom and sister. And I don't mind you talking about yourself, I find it interesting."
Josh smiled and brushed a stray strand of blonde hair out of Katie's face. "Your definitely a different kind of girl," he said. "I like that."
Josh paused as the two of them stopped in front of a small shop. "Oh hey," he exclaimed. "My siter works here. You want to meet her? I told her I would stop by today."
Katie shook her head excitedly. While her experience with men was neat non existent she knew enough that meeting a member of his family was a big step. "I'd love to," she stated breathlessly and she snuggled into his arm. Smiling the young couple strolled towards the shop.
Lisa sighed as she looked over the inventory list again. She had been hoping for a fun weekend with Karen and Bob but a worrisome phone call from Lynette had brought her in. Now instead of adventures with her age and size medallions, she was looking over inventory to determine if any mistakes had been made over the past couple of months. Still, she thought with a mischievous grin, maybe a quick trip home for some fun could help her figure this out. The sound of the door opening snapped Lisa out of her daydream. Turning she smiled. "Oh Josh," she said with a smile. "How's my favorite part timer? "
"Hi Lisa," josh said, "Thought you were off this weekend. Lynette working?"
"Oh yeah big sis in the back looking over some things . By the way whose your friend?"
"Oh this is Katie," Josh said. "We met, um, last night at my party."
"Your party huh," Lisa said slyly. "Hope you two kids weren't misbehaving."
Katie blushed slightly as josh laughed nervously. "No," he stammered. "It's not like that, we uh just, you like hanging out together."
Lisa smiled. "Relax Romeo," she said as she came around the counter. "Hi Katie, I'm Lisa Notokrisse."
"Katie, Katie O'Toole." The two woman shook hands as Katie gave Lisa a shy smile.
As Lisa shook hands with Katie she felt an odd sensation in the air. Instinctively her magical defenses became active as she looked curiously at the young girl. Lisa could sense very powerful age magic coming from this girl. The question is was it the girl herself or a magical object she possessed. Quickly recovering she smiled and casually withdrew her hand.
"Hey Josh," she said. "Why don't you go help Lyn out in back. I know she'd be happy to see you. I'd like to get to know Katie a little better."
Josh smiled and and turned Katie who smiled and nodded as he walked towards the back of the shop leaving Katie and Lisa alone. Lisa now gauged the young girl in front of her. Regardless of what she learned from this girl she would need to contact Gregor as soon as possible about a very powerful magic item. For now though she would need to be careful and try figure out who this girl was and if she possessed one of the most powerful magic items she had ever felt.
