Anthony was on the bus racing to the other side of the campus, when he moved out of the Chronivac's range. He suddenly felt like he had a headache. He realized that the Chronivac had changed him, and he needed to get it. He got off the bus and boarded a bus back to the dorms, but when he got in range of the Chronivac, he forgot all about it. He got off the bus and headed to class again. He did this three times before he decided to write himself instructions. He completely blew off philosophy class for today.
This time on the bus, Anthony read the note he had written. He didn't remember writing it, but it was in his handwriting. So he went back to his dorm room. Chris and Tim were gone. Will was lying on his bed reading. Anthony headed to the computer. He sat down, and found the Chronivac program. He silently read the tutorial, while Will read, and Chris was at the gym with Tim. He gritted his teeth as he read the history on the Chronivac's usage. He had gained 60 lbs, and 20 years, and he didn't remember any of it. At least the toilet was fixed, he thought begrudgingly. He read on about Tim, and shook his head. Then he activated the program. The Chronivac sprang to life. It identified 35 subjects within range including Anthony and Will. Most of the other people in the dorm were within range, as were some walking by or in nearby buildings. There were several different ranges. To establish a new subject it had to be within 500 feet of the transmitter, but once loaded into the program, the subject only had to be within 1-3 mile to remain under control.
As Anthony was deciding what to do, the Chronivac pinged. Two subjects had just entered the 3 mile outer range. Tim and Chris were on their way back.
