Heather's trial was officially recorded as The Civilization of Animalia VS Heather Wilcox. It was one of the few, if only, private trial that had an official Supreme Court preside over it. The reason that it was a private trial was that it was part of the plea bargain between Animalia and Heather, but it was still rather crazy and unusual.

First of all, it was one of the first times where the defendant showed up in the court in what was effectively a dress bikini, mainly because there were no real dress clothes for Animalians, let alone a "Dinotopian" (in accordance with the SNL skit) to wear to court. But this could be easily fixed by Animalia School of Modeling placing several orders for such clothes.

Another thing was that the defense had gathered up several expert witnesses with surprising evidence for her being "insane". One such witness managed to explain how that, in her zeal to get revenge, she thought about her future victims as prey. Such a thing meant that she had lost control of her hunter instincts, and had not undergone the New Species Acclimation classes that most converted Animalians were required to go through to prevent such a thing from happening.
Another "expert witness" was Dr. Gert Addams, a neuroscientist from Germany. Before the trial, Dr. Gert did a complete neuroscan of Heather's brain and discovered that many parts of Heather's brain, specifically the parts associated with primitive hunting instincts were a lot larger and more developed than other parts that were associated with modern civilization. Specifically, Heather's amygdala was three to four times larger than a normal human's, while her orbital frontal region was proportionally smaller in comparison to her new brain. The jury and the judge decided to overlook the rumor that Dr. Gert's grandfather was one of the men who served Josef Mengele during the Holocaust of WWII, but did so against his will and testified against many of his fellow scientists in the trials after WWII.

Eventually, the official verdict of the jury was that Heather was found guilty as charged, but believed that the worst of her crimes were due to emotional and mental instability due to loss of control of her instincts, and agitation due to anger. It was also revealed that her partner, Seņor Zepeta, had only known her for three years, and was wanted by the Supreme Council of Antiquities seventeen years longer than that, and thus she had gotten a reduced sentence. Her sentence included forfeiting all the gold that she had mined before getting caught, being placed under what was effectively house arrest while helping Horizon Labs with Project Thylacine (mainly about how she was able to resurrect an extinct tyrannosaur hybrid with her serum) and meeting with a parole officer every two weeks. What was not reported publicly was several planned "punishments" at the hands of Miss Vivian.

Her Horizon contact, Jeremy, managed to get off with two minor charges. One of smuggling, and one of accepting a bribe, and for both, he was sentenced to paying a $250 for each charge. At first people were outraged at the sentence, but later learned that he was assigned to Project Thylacine, mainly on how Heather managed to bring a Dinotopian to life, and see if the results could be duplicated with other species of Dinosaur, and thus said that it was a fitting charge.
