Jake Denverson was a mischievous brat who got into fights, lied, misbehaved, etc. His parents were at wits end with their 16 year old son, after he had beat up another student for telling on him for cheating on a test and lying about it. Jake was chewed out by his parents for getting into a fight in the first week of school, but the boy was used to it and ignored them, going up to his room.
Jake had moderately long brown hair that covered his ears and bangs that covered most of his eyes, he had blue eyes and light skin.
The next morning seeing as he was suspended for a week, he decided to peep on the cute girl next door. Much to his displeasure, Cynthia had the blinds pulled over her window.
"Man, this sucks! What's a guy supposed to do for fun?!" Jake said in frustration.
Just then his mother came in the room holding out clothes she intended him to wear. It was something he might wear to church, though he didn't attend, his parents always tried to get him to start going again.
"It's not Sunday and even if it was, I wouldn't wear something dorky like that! Forget it!" Jake said much to his mom's dismay.
"Fine, but we're going to get your picture taken for school. If you want to look like a street urchin it's up to you. Just get in the car." She responded.
Jake was surprised at how easily his mom yielded, and let him wear what he wanted. He walked to the car wearing baggy jeans, scruffed tennis shoes and a plain t-shirt. The boy noticed his mom put the clothes from earlier in the trunk,
"Why are you taking that shit with?" He asked,
"I'm going to take them back while your getting your pictures done." His mother explained.
Jake's mom drove to a building he'd never seen before, she said it was new and was cheaper for high school pictures. They walked into the new building and noticed that there weren't a lot of people like he thought there'd be. His mom again dismissed his question with,
"Were just early, now come on."
The woman walked her son into a plainish room with a large black sheet running up the wall with it trailing to the floor, other equipment that you would expect to be in photo shoot.
The thing that caught Jake's attention was the camera: it looked like one of those old fashioned ones with the small curtain and everything. Then a middle aged man in a similarly old fashioned suit that looked like it had a small layer of dust on it. The man had dark circular sunglasses and slicked back brown hair with a hint of gray in the temples.
"Ah Valory! So good to see you!" He said in a voice that reminded him of Dracula from those old movies, and hugged his mom.
"And this must be young Jacob! Nice to meet you!" He said with a creepy smile.
"Sure" the boy responded trying to hide his discomfort.
"Now if the young sir would take a seat and give us a big smile, we can begin your transition into a new person!" The strange man instructed.
"Uh, what do you mean 'transition'?" Jake said as he sat on the wood stool in front of the tripod-mounted camera, the black sheet behind him.
"Aprops nothing, it's just an old saying dear child. It refers to the idea that the camera changes you, who you are before the picture and after the picture are two different people." He explained.
"That's weird. How will this picture change me? Who am I supposed to be after the photo?" Jake questioned,
"Oh, per your mother's request you will become a better you! A boy who is kind, gentle, and caring! A boy who is respectful, studious, and obedient!" He exclaimed to Jake's confusion.
"W-what? Gentle? Obedient? What are gonna turn me into some pussy fag who dresses up everyday, studieing and sniffing flowers?! Yea right you whack job!" The boy said in both rebellion and disbelief.
But before Jake could react the camera flashed BFOOM and the brown haired boy felt dizzy, like something in him was draining and something new being filled its place. Honesty! Religiousness! Charity! Responsibility! Loyalty! Modesty! Tolerance! Kindness! Tidiness! Compassion! Respectfulness! Patience! Chivalrousness! Etc.!
All these positive and overly good traits molded his personality, making him the perfect son and student!
When the flash from the camera ended Jake, now Jacob, was redressed in the outfit his mom presented to him earlier: a crisp white, short sleeve dress shirt buttoned up to the neck, neatly tucked into a pair of loose but fitting, clean khaki pants with a brown belt; over the shirt was a nice sweater vest with a blue and grey pattern. On his feet were brown ankle socks and brown boat shoes, his once longish brown hair was cut short and neatly combed and parted. A silver cross necklace was under his shirt collar.
The new Jacob stood at the front doors with a perfect posture and his hands neatly folded in front of him. The nice young man's mother smiled at her once unruly son, now dressed like a boy his age should, with a respectable haircut and a cross necklace.
She walked with him out the door and was surprised and pleased when Jacob opened the door for her, his head bowed slightly.
"After you mother." He said in a well mannered voice.
"Thank you Jake- I mean Jacob." She responded, overly excited about her transformed son.
When they got home Jacob did his homework and cleaned the house, all with a cheery smile.
From then on, Jacob Denverson got straight A's, became active in the community, cleaned, even sometimes cooking. His parents couldn't be prouder of the outstanding young man Jacob had become!
