While Jade was giving birth in the hospital, on the other side of town, Jen Decker was opening to door for her date, Claire Jacobs. Jen was quite nervous, as it had been a while since she'd done anything like this. The last time she'd been on a date was a few days after Jeff had returned from deployment and retired, and even then it wasn't really a "date". But when Jen opened the door completely, all her worries seemed to fly away in an instead.
Standing in the doorway was Claire, wearing a beautiful pink dress that ended mid thigh and matching heels. Jen could only stand there and stare at her date for the evening. She looked amazing!
"Wow...." she said, sounding breathless. "Claire...you look...gorgeous..."
Claire blushed as she stepped inside. "Thank you," she said. "You look gorgeous too."
Jen looked down at the dress she was wearing. It was much like the one Claire was wearing, except it was red in color instead of pink.
"Oh, this old thing?" she asked. "I haven't worn this thing in quite some time. I just put something that didn't look too overly fancy for tonight. Anyway, I prepared us a small dinner before we get going to the woods. I didn't want to make anything too overly fancy, but at the same time, I didn't want it to be a regular dinner. So, I ran to the store and bought the thing that sounded best for tonight: spaghetti."
"Spaghetti sounds delicious," Claire said. "I'm not too hungry, so I don't want a big serving if that's okay with you."
Jen chuckled a little before saying, "I'm the same way. I don't want to keep our night out waiting. Now, take your seat at the table, and I'll prepare our plates."
Claire did as she was told, and Jen went into the kitchen to make the two plates of spaghetti. She took a small scoop of noodles out of the draining pot in the sink and put them on one plate before putting tomato sauce on them. She then did the same thing on the other plate before grabbing two forks and setting them on the plates.
Once the two plates were made, Jen carried them to the table and set one in front of Claire before sitting down in the chair next to her.
Claire gathered some noodles onto her fork and stuck them into her mouth, chewing slowly to savor the taste.
"These taste great Jen!" she said once she'd swallowed. "At this rate, I'm going to be finished really quickly!"
Jen blushed as the other female complimented her cooking. "I appreciate it, Claire," she said before eating her spaghetti.
After the two women had finished their dinners, Jen put the plates in the kitchen sink before walking over to Claire and holding her hand out for Claire to take.
"Shall we get going?" she asked.
Claire smiled and took Jen's hand, and the two women walked out of the kitchen, down the hallway, and out the front door. The sun was almost done setting as the two females made their way to the forest.
