...Cave. Just like any other cave Isaac has been in since he entered the Crypt. For hours, he and his spawn has been walking though the caves with no new change in scenery. That is until the cave abruptly ended.
At the end of the cave is a door, seemingly out of place in a cave like environment. But what made this door different from others is that it's made to look like a beautiful mirror. Everything it reflects is crystal clear.
As Issac stares at his monstrous reflection, he can't help but feel ashamed for what he has become. He began to wonder what he would do once he purifies the Crypt. He had promised his family that he will return home despite the odds of him returning being slim. He even promised himself that he will find Nathan. A mage and Isaac's best friend. He disappeared into the Crypt months before Isaac set out on his quest and hasn't returned home since.
With self doubt in his mind, Issac glanced back at Ivvir only to see him stare lustfully at his reflection with drool hanging from his mouth. Isaac was a little disturbed by Ilvir's reaction to the mirror.
Isaac was distraught. This door could lead to the source of corruption. It could also lead to a trap. Isaac pondered until he came to a realization. He can't let self doubt take control of him now. He was a paladin and he still is at heart. He can't let something as minor as a mirror door stop him now. Isaac pushed away his doubts as he reluctantly opened the mirror door.
...
Inside is what looks like a holy shrine Isaac would see back home. What makes this shine different is that the walls, the furniture, and everything else was completely covered with a reflective surface. It's like they walked in on a Palace made of mirrors, completely preserved from the corruption of the crypt.
As Isaac and Ilvir began there trek through the mirror shrine, they can't help but stare at the many reflections they are giving off on the mirrored walls. the reflections were the most disturbing part of this place. Instead of seeing his own body, Isaac sees all kinds of different creatures on the mirrors. The unsettling part is that Isaac can somehow tell that these are all reflections of himself. They may be completely different creatures (and sometimes different genders) but Isaac can tell they are all versions of himself. They all have character traits that only Isaac himself would possess. By why are the walls reflecting different versions of himself?
Among the many versions he has seen, there is a female ice dragoness, a human version of himself from before he was corrupted, and a corrupted cock tree that resembles Isaac.
Some versions of him has a version of the ring of purity while others don't.
What's even stranger about these mirrors is that they sometimes show more then one person. They all show a version of Isaac, yet some shows someone else standing next to them. For example, one mirror shows Isaac as a nature dragoness standing next to another nature dragoness. Another mirror shows a human and somewhat feminine version of himself standing to Nathan.
Oh, how Isaac misses Nathan.
Issac was a little disturbed by the sheer number of female dragoness versions of himself. Isaac wouldn't willingly give up his manhood. Would he?
On the flip side, there are fully demon versions of himself who gave in to the corruption. Versions of himeself who completly lost their humaninty and minds to the crypt. And most of them were male...
Another mirror shows Isaac as a grand Palidin, radiating with the power of purity. Isaac doubts that will ever happen to him.
Isaac was about to ask Ilvir about what he thinks of these reflections, but he got his answer from seeing Ilivir's expression. Ilvir was drooling with lust. Isaac can only assume that Ilvir is also seeing corrupt versions of himself.
As Isaac walked through the surprisingly huge shrine, he strangely finds himself at unease. For some reason, he is afraid of touching the mirrors, but he is also very tempted in touching them at the time. There's something about these mirrors that reminds Isaac of the mirror door. He doesn't understand why though. It's not because the mirrors are oozing with corruption. Quite the opposite. The entire shine to radiating magic of purity. If Isaac wasn't a Palidin, he wouldn't be able to sense corruption or purity. But he can also recognize that his corrupted body is reacting to the holy shrine. It's as if his body knows something will happen if Isaac touches the purified mirrors.
Nether Issac or Ilvir spoke as they silently continued walking through the shrine.
...
No matter how much the duo walked, there were no indication of a exit or any other inhabitant of the shrine.
Isaac and Ilivir walked alone. No demon, no Crypt survivors, just them and the mirrors. Only the sound of their footsteps on the glass floor.
It's like time has stood still. They were no more tired or hungry then when they first entered the mirror shrine. It's as if their bodies can't change anymore. It's like their bodies are cut off from time... preserved so as long as they are in the shine.
Isaac couldn't tell if a hour or many days has passed.
Isaac and Ilivir has been wandering the holy shrine for what seems to be an entirety and they're still no less lost then when they first arrived.
The problem was that the mirrored walls were giving off a sense of misdirection. It's hard to tell what is a wall and what wasn't. The only way to tell is if a reflection of themselves was standing right in front of them. It's a miracle neither of them managed to bump into a wall yet.
Isaac knew that they need to do something different or they will be walking through this shrine for the rest of eternity.
Isaac decided to find a exit out of the holy mirror shrine. Yet, after countless searching Isaac let out a annoyed grunt. It's like the entrance has disappeared! They keep walking through countless hallways and the main shrine area.
There is no turning back now. The only thing to do now is to keep going forward. If only they know which way is forward...
The two half-demons continued their trek through the Holy Shrine of Mirrors.
After what seemed like forever, something different has happened.
