Still frenzied and a bit panicked, Adam clumsily stumbled around the hotel room, unaccustomed to his new height and weight. He spotted his dad's cell phone sitting on a nightstand in-between the two beds and picked it up. He unlocked it and let out a sigh of relief, thankful that his dad didn't have his phone password-protected. He fumbled with the screen, the phone felt tiny in his large hands and it made navigating the homescreen surprisingly difficult. He finally managed to pull up the contacts list and dialed his home phone number. He held the phone up to his ear anxiously waited for someone to pick up. Finally, the ringing stopped and a familiar voice answered.
"Donahoe residence, Adam speaking."
"Adam??" Adam asked incredulously.
"Oh hey Dad! What's up? How's your business trip?" Adam-Not-Adam asked.
Adam was stunned speechless. That was HIS voice, and those were things HE would ask his dad.
"Uh," Adam stuttered, he wasn't sure what to do, "It's going...good...son." Adam felt incredibly strange feeling the word "son" come out of his mouth.
"Hey... Adam... have you felt anything weird recently?" Adam probed.
"Not really- well, I did get this totally weird headache and, like, nausea earlier. And I... blacked out? But only for a second I though. I feel fine now." the other Adam replied. From the corner of his eye Adam caught his reflection on the vanity mirror in a corner of the room. He was standing straight, brow furrowed, phone to his ear, and one hand on his waist, a pose he'd seen his dad in countless of times when he talked on the phone.
"Oh, okay. Well... alright I'll talk to you later...bud." Adam said awkwardly.
Adam-Not-Adam said goodbye and hung up the phone. Adam dropped onto the bed, his head spinning with questions. It sounded like his dad wasn't aware of the switch, at all. He sounded like Adam, and acted like Adam. Was it part of the ring's magic? Adam stood up and started pacing, trying to make sense of this whole situation. He wondered if he'd be able to reverse the switch. He racked his head trying to remember what the note he'd found with the ring said but all he could recall was that he'd been chosen to recieve the ring and that in order to activate it he needed to say a person's name three times. Adam stopped pacing when he realized he'd been stroking his chin this whole time, another one of his dad's habits.
Just as Adam was starting to panick again...
